Tony G,
I posted just prior to you.
1999 - #4 plug blew at 115K.
I should note that I mentioned to the mechanic that there was no major "pop" when the plug blew. It took place when I started off (mildly) from a stoplight. Almost as if the plug had loosened to a point of no return when it blew, this same shop performed the 100K-plug replacement.
After he completed the repair he said that he was 99.9% sure that they did not cause the problem. However, he gave me the benefit of the doubt and performed the repair at no cost. I thought that was pretty straight up of him.
The 100k service was the first visit to this shop. He may have used this as a way to get my future business. It worked, as I just had a major brake job done with him.
Whatever the reason, I still think it was the right way to do business.
