I HAVE A 71 LONGBED I WOULD LIKE TO ADD SOME CHROME BED RAIL PROTECTORS. IT SEEMS EVERYWHERE I LOOK THEY HAVE THEME FOR 73 AND UP. WILL THEY FIT MY 71? I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT THE RAILS THAT SIT ABOVE THE BED BUT THE CAPS THATCOVER THE TOP.
Dude, you don't need to YELL at everyone. We hear you man! They should fit. But I would say keep looking. There are a million companys that offer that sory of thing. Don't be afraid to put them on the spot, ask them.
To make it more clear in case you don't understand what shouting is. It is part of the rules here not to use all caps or shout. No big deal. Welcome to FTE if you haven't been welcomed yet. It seems that it is hard to find accesories for beds in pre 72 trucks. I was looking for a tonneau cover for mine and found that LUND was the only people who made them. I called them and they said they had stopped production a few months back and were sold out. Now I guess I'll have to get one custom made as you will probably will. Good luck.
Rat Smoker, thank you for the welcome,I was begining to get discouraged about using this board. It was my mistake about the caps and I apologize. After the first use of caps it was a couple of days before I looked at my first post to see my reprimand, but I had already posted another question. Sorry fellows, can ya'll forgive me? Please! About the bed rails, do you think a 73-79 bed is about the same radius at the top?
I dont think many here carry a grudge I'm sure a few do but not ole' Jowilker right you posting maniac lol, Welcome to the board, It is a very informative site and hope you stick around
LAST EDITED ON 12-Jul-01 AT 09:02 AM (EST)[p]Never heard of checkmate. Do you have any info on how I can contact them? I would greatly appreciate it. Not sure what you mean by radius at the top 71SA but if you are talking about the shape of the top of the rail I do believe they are a little different. Might want to take a look at somebody's late 70s truck and compare it to yours. If I remember correctly the bed rails aren't as wide as yours, but I very well could be wrong.
Personnally, all CAPS and the association with shouting (I am sure someone knows the trivia that started this association) doesn't bother me one way or another. I can read the information either way and not feel offended.
The tree that falls far off in the forest doesn't bother me, but the tree that barely misses me provides a noise similar to shouting that offends me. What does really offend me is the morons running down the road playing there favorite music for me from a mile or so away and vibrating my rear at the same time!
As a matter of fact I don't even like to have music piped into McDonalds when I go in to eat there! And so on and so on.
You might want to try www.joesonline.com. I know they carry bed caps, but might not for your application. Whether a 73-79 application will work or not, either measure your rail and compare with the measurement of a 73-79 rail or ask someone who sells the bed caps to measure them for you and compare with your truck's dimensions.
In reference to the boom boxes vibrating everybodies teeth going down the road, I think we should develope a hand-held device that you can point at them and overload there amps. Oh what fun on a friday night!
I already have a handheld unit for turning down offensively loud boom boxes. It comes in 44 cal. with a lazer site 73 F-100 shortbed 302 cu. in. C4 auto
