Question bed rail protectors

Hey folks,
I bought a set of UWS bed rail protectors today. The kit comes with three screws for each side. This sounds nuts to me! Seems like you would want some two sided tape under there. My question is for those people who have these protectors. How are yours held on? If you use the screw, where are they?

bed rail protectors

I have Wade bed rail guards. Put them on myself, easy as pie, and they fit perfect. I cleaned off certain areas of paint along the top of the rails with alcohol, like the directions said, preparing them for the two-sided tape, one side of which was already stuck on the guards themselves. So after cleaning the paint it was simply a matter of peeling back the protective cover off the tape, and then placing the guards into proper position on the bed rails. No screws, but then the guards aren't metal, either.

Rockledge,

Do you have any pictures of your bed rail covers?

My buddy put a set on his ZR-2 and they already look like they're 1/2 way from coming off.

I removed an old tonneau cover, and I want to cover up the scratched paint.

It seems like any aftermarket that uses 2 sided tape would eventually come off.

Also, with the wide bed rail, I wouldn't think anything would fit snugg like the F-150's.

Thanks

I don't have any pics of the bedrails themselves, but if you look at the "Ford Pics" in my signature you can see how they look from the side. As I noted, the fit is perfect.

I have had no problem whatsoever with the bedrails staying put, they look as good as good now as they did a year and half ago when I put them on. Believe me, if you get the right rails for your application, and if you install them properly, then you won't have any problems with durability.

They do look tight.

What brand are they and where did you get them?

Did you use additional 2 way tape? You mentioned the addtional 3m tape, but did you need to use more?

Thanks, and nice pics.

Another unrelated questions... How do you get you sig in the actual body of the post?

The rails are made by Wade.

I did not use additional tape on mine.

Having a signature show up below a post is one of the "perks" of joining Club FTE.

I have and highly recommend the Bak Industries ProCap (http://www.bakliner.com/procaps.htm). The fit and finish is excellent. It is secured with super strong adhesive tape. There is now way it is coming off. I got it at stylinconcepts.com

Here is a pic...

IMO, the "ultimate" bed rail protector would be a spray-on liner like Line-X. Have them do the rails when you get the bed done.
