Have a 1999 Ranger and the checkengine light came on and the truck was idling really rough. After reading many forums with the same symptoms, I changed out the PCV valve, EGR valve and the EGR valve sensor. Seems to run a bit smoother but now the check engine light is blinking?
Am I wrong or does a blinking CEL mean a misfire? check DTC's. If it happened all of a sudden you've likely lost a plug, wire, or a coil pack. Mine did the same and it was the coil pack.
