Hear, hear!

The other folks in other parts of the country have no idea the amount of harm that is occurring down here from this. You all need to see it for yourselves, because ordinary Americans are absolutely paying a big price for the shenanigans taking place down there.

What I do now is the families are decent people. The kids are extremely well behaved, parents while they speak no English always smile and wave. The husbands seem to work 6 days a week 12-14 hrs per day, houses are extremly well keep. Houses are dark by 10 at the latest every night.. Every Sunday the families leave in their best for church. Basically they remind me of what America was in the early 70's when I was a kid. these people still have the family values and work ethic that it seems as if many Americans have msiplaced.

I will say I think the country needs to address the immagration problem we are facing and sooner than later. While I came understand people wanting to come here for a better life, there is a right way to do it. And a bigger part of that is learning to assimilate to the culture you are now with. That dosen't mean abandoning traditions from the homeland, that would be wrong. What it should mean at a minimum is to get a basic grasp of the language so that you can advance and be a part of this society.

I've said enough.
Good post. I'd have to agree it's a problem that needs to be addressed. On the other hand, the Hispanic families you describe sound very familiar to most of the folks I've come to know in our community. Strong family structure, God fearing, great work ethic- I have to view these people as an overall asset, not a liability to our country. At the same time, like in all groups that preceded them, there's an undesireable element that needsto be found and sent....somewhere else. I think America was in the same quandry at the turn of the Century. Then, the faces were Irish, italian, and German- but the story was essentially the same.

Will somebody please find and post a link either from your local area or of a national story about illegal immigrants doing good.

The stories and statistics are numerous when it concerns how the social services are being abused and we can get caught up on that issue alone.
I would like to know if there is a different or better side to this issue.

Being able to contribute to society and to not be a burden, that seems to be one of the main issues.

We have all heard about the great melting pot, right? This seems to be derived from the tradition, since the 1700's, of coming together from different nations and traditions to create a better place for us and our own.

We are not melting anymore.

Businesses are advertising in spanish more and more because they realized that they could be missing out on alot of money from this other demographic.
Something that bothers me is when my wife can't get a job because she's not bi-lingual. Another issue is when local and state governments spend tax dollars to cater to a special demographic but then this demographic sends the majority of their income overseas. I'm the one buying at the local hardware store. I'm the one spending money at sears for that new oven. BUT, my tax dollars are also being spent to help an illegal get a drivers license.

I've been the first one on the scene of an accident when illegals, who caused the wreck, jump from the car and run across the field or down the road to get away. No insurance and the other innocent driver is hurt and left behind. In our area, there are little white crosses at different intersections where innocent people have been killed and left behind.

DallenX, I haven't any stories about illegals doing good. I heard the story about the "legal" illegal who doesn't want to become a citizen, who refuses to speak english and bad mouths americans like there is no tomarrow because she didn't want to get on a boat to escape the NVA and VC but her husband, a S.Vietnamese banker, forced her to. This isn't really a story I heard, these people were my neighbors. Their son, who is American by birth went to college in California on a full ride 4 year scholarship. Provided by the government through a relocation program.

This family got out of Vietnam with buku gingwa, in the millions, that the old man stole from others. And our government pays for them to move here!

I've heard that California requires schools to teach classes in spanish to help non-english speakers learn. Neat trick, aye. English classes taught in spanish!

Are you aware that companies that do this generate additional tax deductions and credits when they leave? Let's think about this for a moment- we, the taxpayers, indirectly subsidize a plant closing in the form of accelerated depreciation write-offs and business expense write-offs and credits, credits and write-offs for new plant and equipment purchases outside of the US, and wages paid outside of the US. Then we shoulder the additional burden of caring for those left behind without jobs.

And this makes sense?
Yes, please listen to your president (am I the only one here who listened to the state of union address???)- sending business overseas is how America is going to remain competitive in the "free" world market - stop trying to be isolationist - And all ya'all better stop complaining about illegals coming into the US - Georgie boy says that ain't right - Who knows, you just might end up with your anti-American, un-patriotic views being suveilled by the NSA!

Now, it's 1 AM and the superbowl's tomorrow, so I'm going to toss a couple more chunks of wood on the fire and hit the sack. We've been watching this country sell it's soul for so long, gotta wonder if there's enough left to hold on to...

Im a Paramedic in California. At times I have gone an entire 72hr shift without running an english speaking person.

I have run calls at one families house for 5yrs and in that time NOT one person in the house has learned any english.

I don't mind people coming to America and living the American dream. I have a huge problem with people coming to America and turning it into a dump.

Ya know what else I have a problem with? Why the heck are my front leaf springs stamped made in Mexico? Don't we have a huge steel industry in this country?
