It is VERY, VERY simple. The ones that here illegally and that are coming here illegally are breaking the law. That means that they are CRIMINALS. Criminals belong in jail or take them back over the border.

If that means crops are more expensive to harvest, so be it. We CAN NOT condone breaking the law.

Make a way to allow a certain number of SCREENED individuals to migrate to this country LEGALLY. That's what Ellis Island was all about and it worked.

Condoning the breaking of the law for our own convenience will be the downfall of the country.

The fall of the Roman Empire was CHIEFLY because the people got spoiled and did not want to work any more. They started bringing vast numbers of people from poorer countries to do it for them and that was the end of the Roman Empire. Does that scenario sound familiar?

BTW, another thing that happened at the end of the Roman Empire, as they were bringing in the laborers, was that the Gladiators became some of the richest people in the country. They would give them whatever they wanted as long as they would go in the colliseum and fight. The Gladiators were their athletes. Is that something else that sounds familiar.

Have a great day,
Doc

Pick up a newspaper from Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, El Paso, Etc... on any given day and read about an illegal charged in a killing, suspected in a killing, fleeing back to the land he left forsaken because of crime he committed here....or killed and dropped of in a field.

Laredo just yesterday captured 2 large caches of weapons including IED's.

How exposed are the residents of South Tipton County to this evil?

Or read the police reports about an illegal involved in an accident with no license or insurance and the injured victim (with no health insurance) having to go to a welfare hospital and wait for hours upon miserable hours to receive med treatment. The wait being due to illegals overwhelming the medical system.

As I have mentioned before, Texas insured drivers pay more than twice the national average in auto insurance rates...Why? Because over 25% of the drivers in Texas are uninsured...45% in the southern region of the state.

Read about my property taxes, hospital district taxes, sales taxes etc. going up to combat the costs attributed to increased law enforcement, uninsured med treatment, education etc....

How about the illegal children entering our public school system. My taxes have to provide special Hispanic speaking teachers / class rooms etc. Did I mention that my tax dollars also have to provide many of their lunches?

How exposed are the residents of South Tipton County to this financial burden?

BTW: Most of the lettuce you won't pick already comes out of Mexico. Guess our illegals don't want to pick it either.

As a side note: Billions of $$$ a year are being sent home to the illegals families. Some of it supports them there. Nice sacrifice. However, much of it is being used to fund other family members trek to illegally enter the US thereby exacerbating already burgeoningissues. One begets two, which begets four which begets eight...the cycle is never ending and continues to flourish unchecked and in full bloom.

let me say though on this language drift, i lived in london for 2 years and the U.K. has(it seems) just as many dialects as the U.S. and the scottish?? jeez, working with this scot guy, it took me a better of 2 months to understand him!! (not saying ANYTHING bad about scots!) but even in russia, russians have different dialects depending on what region they are from, i think every country in the world has it some how or another.

Dallenx So many points of view, that's what I love about this country.
Same pool? All from Africa? Ok...that was then.
Today, immigration in general is a huge topic.

Todays immigrants, legal and illegal, are so intertwined into our financial society that there may only be two options:

1) Ammnesty for all that are here now (set a date), then block the border with any resource you have (walls, barbed wire, etc.)
2) Find all the illegals and kick them out then block the border with any resource you have (walls, barbed wire, etc.)

With the 2nd option (the one that I prefer and the only real legal choice as I see it), we will have to live with a change in our financial stability. This change will mean that my 15yr old son & 14yr old daughter will have to get a job moving irrigation pipe this summer. That too, is ok! Hard work never hurt a teenager.

Illegal immigrants get in-state tuition
[url="https://www.ford-trucks.com/lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ncsl.org%2F programs%2Feduc%2Fundocimmigrant.htm"]

The link you provided states clearly that illegal immigrants are not elegible for in-state tuition.

In principal, it sounds OK, but I'm not even sure jobs like that are legal for teens that age. Child labor laws restrict the type of work young teens can do. Oh wait- Jim Ludwick wants those laws changed too. Let's see- this makes sense- lets substitute cheap child labor for immigrant farm labor. If you read back on my prior posts, you'll see I make every attempt to be open-minded and fair when expressing my views and opinions on just about every topic. In the case of Jim Ludwick, my feelings are that he is an ultra-right racist hiding behind a more populist issue and organization to further a larger agenda. I fervently wish he'd just up and move to Northern Idaho- I'm sure he has friends there.

I've read most of the posts here and I got to admit that the more I read the more bummed out I'm getting.

My wife and I have been working for close to forty years and don't have anything to show for it other than the house we "own" but which is actually owned by a bank, a truck that overall is worth less than the tires I bought on credit from lester scwab. Medical bills that will probably be passed on to my grand-kids and less money in the bank than I owe on my "regular" monthly bills. Like heating, electricity, a daily corn dog for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The essentials of life.

It costs twice as much to drive to work now than it did two years ago. And because of the normal reasons, like a job that doesn't pay enough to support a single person let alone a family of 2, lack of education (can't afford to go to school) lack of experience, I can't find a job closer to home.

Last year I could get 2 corn dogs for a dollar, now they are a dollar each. 1 f**ckin corn dog a day.

I spent 16 years in the military defending our freedom, and today I realize the only freedom Americans have left, is the freedom to bitch about what's happening to America .

Don't believe me? Try to make a change. Try to stop Illegal immigrants that are legally allowed to be here and are supported by taxes dollars that are not used to support programs for citizens. More later, I'm just getting started.

I actually had a chance to read all this and it's sadly depressing to me too. You want to feel sorry for the illegals, that's great, send them the hell back and make them do it legally becuz I for one am getting tired of being turned down for a job I am perfectly qualified for and even have experience in becuz I am not bilingual. I live in TX and I see it daily. I don't have a problem learning another language by choice but I want to make the choice, not be forced to in order to keep myself above the national poverty level which I haven't been up until this past year. I'm scotch/irish/cherokee/english and can trace my tipton ancestors back to the knight who slayed prince lewellyn in 580 AD, and my cherokee ancestors to one listed on the dawes rolls as chief john in TN before the trail of tears. The scotch/irish comes from my father and I haven't even started on that side yet but I know for a fact that the immigrants in my family came back as early as the mayflower era and the cherokee were here before that! I am a loyal american and know people who have fought to keep us free. Our own 13mwz is just now coming home for Iraq as a matter of fact. I fear several things from these illegals. 1) they don't have the respect to abide our laws in coming over, what makes us think they'll have any loyalty to protect our nation as a whole if it ever came necessary on the home front? 2) will I continue to have to struggle to make ends meet (and i have more than a advanced w/honors high school diploma, i went to college) simply becuz i have to give a huge chunk of my hard earned wages to someone who wants to sit at home and pop babies and since the babies are citizens, the parents allowed to stay and keep doing it?????? 3) will my children be able to make a better life for themselves than what I currently face or will the govt do NOTHING to aleviate this enormous burden on it's citizens.

as a texan, i see something that only other border states have the opportunity to see. you yankees hear stories of this of that of the other but you dont truly see. you don't go into united (grocery chain) and see an illegal herding her 10 citizen children to a frigging cadillac after paying for their groceries on the lonestar card! You didn't go to school with all 10 of those children and thats how you know mommy's not legal and they're threatening to send her back if she stops having babies so that's why she's still popping kids! you don't see them getting free school lunches that my parents paid for with their taxes but that illegal didn't becuz she doesn't work, she pops babies for her money. you haven't been raised having no insurance becuz dad's job didn't offer it becuz he had to settle for less wages just to have a friggin job becuz the illegals work cheaper. you don't see.. you haven't seen it personally to the extent that anyone in a border state has the ability to see becuz it hasn't reached that far that extensively yet. and I DO MEAN YET!

the whole language thing and respect thing, the illegals got no respect or they'd have respected our laws in the first place and come through legally! so some of them convince you they feel that the risks are worth it to get out of their homeland, they should make the effort to change their home land like america did to get out from under england 2 centuries ago! they come over here, get desperately ill, lie about having a ssn so they can get health care and we absorb those 80G or more bills. I learned all about that working for a company for a hospital who does nothing but assist people in applying for assistance programs to get their med bills paid. if they come in w/o insurance, their acct is referred to these companies and the process starts. if they're illegal, there are still programs to help them, some only post mortem assistance for the families but still, assistance for illegals nonetheless.

as far as our lettuce going up cuz we got no one to pick it, that goes for most anything but maybe, just maybe it'll slow america down becuz instead of spending 80 hrs at work and 20 hrs working at home on work work, we'll start spending that 20 hrs at home working on our own garden & raising our food; providing for ourselves in ways that require our own hard work and not depends on the backs of these illegals that should learn some respect and enter the country through the correct channels if they really want the better life.

sorry for the length but this is something that i've been raised around and while i can understand the plight of those trying to get here for a better life, i have many friends who did it legally and they're here for the long haul and their english isn't perfect but communication is a two way street with them. my friends ask questions about english and helped me learn some spanish and i wanted to learn, i chose to learn, becuz i respect them for doing it legally. they took the esl classes in school but they were legal immigrants and i feel that should be available to them. just not to the illegals on my dollar. make them pay for ALL the expense of the classes for their own illegal children and see if they think a little less of america as a paradise.

better yet, all those who pity the illegals and want to help them, let their taxes go up to pay for it and let me choose to not provide for the illegals. let me also choose to not provide for the american welfare mama's and the drunks who use govt assistance and the criminals cable television in jail and and and and and. i think i'd be better off if i cld just contribute to the elderly who have done their lifes work for america and let the rest fend for themselves like i'm having to do daily. *shrug* just what i think though.

I can only imagine how you guys/girls feel. Luckily Canada isnt attached to a third world country (if u consider mexico a third world country), so we don't have a big illegal alien problem. But then again having 2 official languages up here is kinda a drag, mes ami(e)s!

While we're on the topic of immigrants and taxes, I'll rant briefly about something that just frosts my butt every time I read about a plant or business closing and moving outside the US borders.

Are you aware that companies that do this generate additional tax deductions and credits when they leave? Let's think about this for a moment- we, the taxpayers, indirectly subsidize a plant closing in the form of accelerated depreciation write-offs and business expense write-offs and credits, credits and write-offs for new plant and equipment purchases outside of the US, and wages paid outside of the US. Then we shoulder the additional burden of caring for those left behind without jobs.

And this makes sense?

yeah i worked at a call center for the deaf in the past and even those are sent overseas now. how are you supposed to translate conversational english to someone who speaks sign english (two VERY different languages) when you can't understand conversational english to start with which is the first step in that translation! that chaps me pretty good too but it's about the cheaper labor too, not just tax breaks. i've called places and asked for an american english speaking rep and had people get angry with me but i tel them if they can't get me an american on the phone i'll discontinuing my svc or returning their product whatever the case may be becuz i'm tired of ignorant help. they're not stupid people they're just ignorant to what i'm asking becuz they can't understand me!

The goverment needs to put up a 50 foot wall along the border with Mexico.

On the Mexican side put the words in spanish "mine field on the other side of this wall".

On the U.S. side, a clear killing zone of a 1/4 mile. This 1/4 mile should be loaded with anti-personal mines.

If the wall does not stop 'em, the mine field will.

As for the children of illegals being U.S. citizens because they are born here is a load of crap.

Every illegal in the this country should be sent back. You want to live and work in this country, DO IT LEGALLY!

I've really found this post interesting to read through over the last couple days, haven't read all the replys but from what I have seen its been very interesting.

Here in the Manassas VA area, 30 miles west of DC, illegal immagration has been a very hot topic recently. So much so that the Manassas city council recently passed a ordiance to redifine what the term family means, in response to many complaints of over crowding in homes. Ordinance was in effect about a month before the ACLU got wind of it and found it was basically being directed at hispanics , the council has sense repealed the rule, they are now looking at other options.

Some of things occuring around here are, massive overcrowding in houses, 15-20 people in a 3-4 bedroom house, overcrowded schools, over extended social services, the local ER has been turned into makeshift doctors office, the gang MS13 is becoming a bit of a problem, super markets being turned into Hispanic supermarkets, homes being turned into brothels, city newsletters are now bilingual, police and fire dept have trouble communicating with the poor English skills.

When I look at the local paper, a increasing number of the crime reports list mostly hispanic names involved with the crime, especially when it comes to DUI's.

Don't even try to pull into a 7-11 in the mornings if you are driving a truck, you'll be surrounded by a mob looking for day jobs, and even if you went into the store chances are good it will have a sign on the counter saying the clerks speak no English. Another thing that I have started to notice at the local Home Depots and Lowes they are now making annoucements on the PA in Spanish, that one really bugs me for some reason.

I could go on but I won't bore anyone more than neccesay. I will mention that I now have 3 houses directly next to and across from me that are owned by Hispanic families, are they legal or illegal, don't know and don't really care. What I do now is the families are decent people. The kids are extremely well behaved, parents while they speak no English always smile and wave. The husbands seem to work 6 days a week 12-14 hrs per day, houses are extremly well keep. Houses are dark by 10 at the latest every night.. Every Sunday the families leave in their best for church. Basically they remind me of what America was in the early 70's when I was a kid. these people still have the family values and work ethic that it seems as if many Americans have msiplaced.

I will say I think the country needs to address the immagration problem we are facing and sooner than later. While I came understand people wanting to come here for a better life, there is a right way to do it. And a bigger part of that is learning to assimilate to the culture you are now with. That dosen't mean abandoning traditions from the homeland, that would be wrong. What it should mean at a minimum is to get a basic grasp of the language so that you can advance and be a part of this society.

I've said enough.

yes, i think the language and culture thing really gets to me most of all, when i was staying in russia, i was studying russian everyday, so i picked up a good bit of the language, also i celebrated their holidays on their days, i didn't go around with an american flag celebrating fourth of july or anything or yelling i need labor day off because its a holiday in my country. and the thing is, i was just a visitor, not even planning on immigrating there. so i wonder why can't alot of these immigrants have the same courtesy when they come to america?

my wife from russia knows perfect english, has job skills, and i am in the process of teaching her how the american system of government works. we legally got her into the country, and beleive me, it was the biggest hassle, lots of paper work, money and traveling expenses, but it was done legally!!!! and she even wonders why there is spanish on everything and announcements in walmart in spanish also, her question always, "why don't they learn english?" "to bad if they don't know, america shouldn't promote them to not learn" so if she can be here for 3 months and already see these problems, jeez, it must be worse than anyone thought.
