I saw on the PBS a while back where a town in Texas changed their offical language to Spanish. AND they passed a law that said nobody in that town could comply with Imigration laws. maybe I heard wrong, and I wouldn't have believed it but it was on PBS. aren't they spose to be right?

Its a shame that the goverment and the american people are allowing this to happen to our country. This is a huge problem. I am surrounded by illegals selling fruit and corn on the corners and pushing shopping carts around selling anything they can. They honk a bicycle horn so the others can come out of their houses to buy the junk. Then they throw their trash all over the streets and some even urinate in public. A real drunk driving and no license problem too. It hurts to see my city turning into a third world slum, however it is happening. Everyone seems to ignore this situation. On another note. BUY AMERICAN! Buy a ford, chevy or dodge! save our american car companies! They are in alot of trouble. Now they are going to start importing chinese cars to the US!

Here in Oregon, we feel about the rest of the US the same way the rest of the US seems to feel about illegal immigrants. We get Californians doing 64 in the fast lane, southerners with accents you can't understand, all these people moving here and taking up land... we were here first. It's a big problem.

Not much of a problem here.. in a few cities where there are meat packing plants it is more of a problem.

Here in the DC area we have the invaders from every part of the world.
When I'm out in my area I rarely hear English.
I hear mostly Spanish with some Korean, Farsi and who knows what else.
Even walking the aisles of a local big box store...

The south of the border types are on almost every corner looking for work (maybe they're waiting for the bus?). The County is using tax dollars to build them a nice place to wait for work to come to them. Same thing they did in Northern VA. Basically, it's a nice big building where they can gather and wait for contractors who need day labor to come get them.

Maybe I should chuck my birth certificate and driver's license and go there for the food and special programs, which by the way, are available only to the illegals. About 4 years ago I went job hunting in the area. I'm qualified for most everything in the area. I filled out apps at the big box stores and never heard a word back. Everytime I go in there I see ppl from someplace else that barely speak English that got the job.
Pisses me off...

Dude... San Antonio is Spanish. I'm no expert, but I'd wager that a place with a name like San Antonio has probably had a large Hispanic population for quite a while....

i understand that, i grew up here. but 10 years ago, there wasn't nearly the bi-lingual language we have today. my point is, if you come to america, speak the freakin language, don't expect me to learn it for YOU. yes, i do know some spanish, but it was through high school, kinda had to learn it.

its like this, if someone came to your house to stay, you wold expect them to live by your household rules more or less right? well, suppose they partied till late inthe night when you had work the next day or something along those lines. you'd get mad right?

i'm not racist, you can't be in this day n time and get away with it, i'm just saying that if you live here, act liek you wanna be a citizen. i understand that mexico is a 3rd world country, but if you move here, have the comon courtesy to attempt to become and "american" not a mexican american, cause your here, your american. don't loose your heritage, but be an american.

I'm going to keep most of my thoughts on this one to myself but I have to bring this up. Anyone else noticing that it is bcoming increasingly hard to find the English instructions on packaging? Times were that the Spanish was the small secondary lettering on packaging, I've noticed a reversal trend, at least in CA. I was installing some tiles I bought from Lowes this past weekend and had to SEARCH for the English on the box, while the spanish was very visible. Right now I have bags of chips and popcorn in my cupboard that have the spanish as the largest lettering.

Guess its time to brush up on my Spanish if I want to keep buying things

I see now that the Mexican Army is helping drug smugglers cross the border. What next?
