Ive got a factory 4 barrel 390 engine in my 75 F150 2wheel drive....Just wondering what these c2 406 heads will do for me...These heads are a fresh rebuild and ported...Been sitting on a 60 Tbird for the last 5 years...Just curious on how much compression and what cams can I use ..I know they had dual spring and a tad bit bigger valves cant remember if it was the intake or exhaust side...Thanks
Well, to figure the compression you need the combustion chamber volume. Something else you might look at, is what size valves those heads use. 2.09 / 1.65" valves will require notching the cylinders for valve clearance. Another issue, is hardened exhaust valve seats. Unless they were installed, these heads dont have 'em, and unleaded gas will be a no-go.
there was never a f150 with a 390 4bbl built so its not factory. i have also never heard of or seen a D5 block. my guess is it came out of a late 60's car.
What C2 heads? B or C ? The C's have a little bigger chambers. Mine cc'd at 68-69. The B heads are a little smaller at around 64-65 cc's. They both have the sharp D shape chambers. 1.65 ex valves are a tight fit but very doable with a little unshrouding. Are you sure the block casting is a C5? It could be a D2, 3 , or 4 also which would be a 70's casting. I've never heard of a D5 casting either.

Same thing in Advanced Auto.....You could get it in 2 or 4 Barrel
The c2 406 heads and Aftermarket headers were purchased from a guy who had a 68 Torino..He was going back stock so sold off his heads and headers...Guy called me like 3 times within the next 18 months to get them back......Sorry If my previous post confused anyone......
Just wanted to trackdown some numbers......These are currently on the truck
Heads-D2TE-A..1 heads has an interior code 5d30 the other 5d23
Intake-D5TE
Block-D31E--Im sure its an "1" or an "I"...not a T
Ill check my 406 heads when I go to the Garage......C1 OR C2 I believe Ive got both...
you have a very unique truck there. ford says less than 316 units were made in 1975 with a 4bbl option and all the 4bbl f150 trucks were made at MTP like the 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. i also asked about 1976 and they said zero were made as it was not a option, just 75 was. which was the first year of the f150.
Cool........You the man Gashog....Too bad it isnt the same color anymore..Was White/Cream and Brown....Missing bech seat carpet...Well might have to change my plans for the truck now......Im gonna see if I can change my topic alittle....Its turning more into something else......Thanks again
Another thing that I found odd is I have disc brakes on the front and no points.Electronic..I dont see why someone would upgrade...Everything else looks stock...Outside of the rims and buckets and paint...Seems untouched.....Hey GasHog where did you find that info gotta Link.....Thanks
