i have a 73 F100 390FE(bored.040 over, shaved heads 4bbl) C6, and i have hit a rock about what i want to do with it, i want to fix it up, but i dunno after that, i dunno if i should go pro street with it or build it into a daily driver( most likely) but i dunno if i want to keep stock colors( graber blue, and wind blue top) or go for a 2007 f150 grey(gray).
whats your input on what i should do?
Do the opposite or different of what your '72 is...
I'd repair and maintain it to the point where ya have to make decision. Meaning, get it running right and all of its systems on par.
Either way, the body needs fixing and the hood aligned. Start on that and it'll speak and tell you what it wants to be....
I have a 71 F250 that has been looking for inspiration but it's looking more and more like a nice restomod driver as each day, week, and month goes by. It is however yearning for an FE/ZF5 combo.
engine is running good(was rebuilt 20+ years ago, may be time for a freshinging up), trany is new, steering is bad though wanders really bad, truck has 300k plus on it, technicly speaking it does have 30's on it 30x9.5R15s.
As of today what i want to do is...
F350 brake upgrade
new steer gear box
get the body and floor done
get the engine a little chrome
headers!!!!!!!!!!!
HIO Silver- when you posted the grille paint thing do you remember anyone painting their 73-75 inserts with a shiny paint, without the black? shiny only
BTW how do i aligne the hood, the bolts on the mounts spin and spin in the fender

A link to the grill painting technique is in my signature below. I've seen other solid colors besides black but it doesn't look right IMO.
The cage for the captured nuts for the hood hinge are ballooned out due to excessive force so the nut and bolt are just spinning. Welcome to the club.. I ended up pulling the inner fenders to repair them. A lot of fricking work!
Step 1 for you I figure is brakes, steering and suspension. Floor pans are next, then headers (plus clean up the engine bay). Bling is always last!
yeah one other idea I have had is to sell it and get a bumpside, idunno how well that would go. in your opinions how long and how hard would it be to fix my body work- I don't have a welder other than a stick welder, and I dunno how to bondo.
BTW HIO I love what you did with the LBB
did some looking and patch panels seem like a easy option, but no one has a bed corner patch, and I have front fenders as well as the floor pans, do you think I could stick these or will I need a MIG

Thanks... it had been a long road.
Skip the bodywork for now and work on suspension, steering, and brakes. Asking how difficult bodywork is to do is like asking what does salt taste like. This would be a good time to learn.

Stick welders are for pipelines and farm equipment IMO. Patching bodywork with good workmanship requires a MIG with shielding gas... flux core is OK in a pinch but it's sloppy.
Turn it into a raked, chopped, channeled, narrowed and shortened 6 wheeled rat roadster with a set of them flat head type header pipes. Every time I see a dent or bump for cheap that's what I see. I've been hit by to many rocks.

Time to dig out my Rebel Rodz **** and a swizzle stick full of salt, just need a flat head for my heels to rest on. Within a month I'll be full bore into the Henry project. Next 3-$500 dent I see then goes into the side shop, Need a get twisted fix as I've been a good ole geezer for to long. Thanx Hio
