I Pull a 12500# 5th wheel with my 03 F250 4" ex. Superchip EGT Trans guage . My concerne is over heating the trans. would like to know if it would be a good idea to switch to synthetic trans fluid.
In my opion, From my experience with 4stroke dirt bikes, running any clutch type material in synthetic oil will increase slippage and reduce the friction materials abilty to hold. Flush and change your transmission oil will cost about the same as a good transmission cooler. SuperDutys allready come with decent size tranny cooers.
Is it getting hot now?

I don't intend to tow anything too large or heavy, but I bought the MAG HYTEC tranny pan that holds 8 extra quarts and I run MOBILE 1 synthetic ATF dextron II. I may install a tru-cool this summer if I tow my 1998 Toyota Tacoma out to AZ

If you change from dino to synthetic trans fluid and stay with the correct rating such as MERCON or MERCON SP, depending on what your trans requires, this will not be a problem. All MERCON fluids must be at the correct "slipperyness" or they don't get the MERCON rating.
This may not be true for the oil you used in your motorcycles, but it is true for trans fluid.
mine is running around 150 degs with a mag-hytek and bigger cooler. i think it's the way to fly. plus it looks great. same for the rears the covers add fuild and run colder. funny thing and i'd like to ask every one.
after adding the mag-hyek covers my LS unit stopped chattering. any one else find this?

Running cooler with Mag-hytech and cooler only...or did you go with synthetic?
I've never seen a rating on "slipperyness". The reson Honda seperated thier gear/clutch oil, from thier engine oil was so syn. could be used for engine lubericant and to keep full syn. away from clutch material. Same reason Yamaha does Not recomend 4-R syn oil in its engine-transmissions on performance machines.
This may or may not pertain to the same clutch type material used in the 4R100.
why in the heck would you put that in a 4R100? that is asking for band and clutch damage. the 4R100 calls for a minimal frction modified fluid. mercon is what is spec'd.
the shop may not be aware that a 4R100 is very sensitive to friction modified oils. lots of 4R100's get ruined like that. the worst one to use is mercon V or Sp.plain mercon has little modifiers it is just one step up from type F.
