I am having troubles starting a truck that i just got it sounds like its flooded but its not and it acts like its not getting enough spark. i have asked so many people i dont know what to do
You're not giving us much information to go on. Combustion requires 3 things to make it happen: fuel, air & spark. If you're missing any one of those 3 you're outta luck.
You say it sounds like it's flooded so I assume you're getting fuel to the cylinders through the carb. Air is pretty much a no brainer, so that leaves spark. Have you checked for spark at the plugs? At the coil? It could be that the ignition module is bad which would mean that you're not getting spark. The coil could be bad or it could be as simple as replacing the distributor cap because it's cracked. Maybe the rotor is toast. How old are the plugs?
Provide more detailed info about what you've done to try to diagnose the problem and I'm sure you'll get some excellent ideas on how to get it running.
sry guys my friend needed to ask a question but he didnt quite get the hang of it. He has a 79 1/2 t with a 351m he just got and its been sittin for bout 4 years in the trees. We tired and tried and it fires when it turns over and it wants to go so bad but it wont. It has spark and all and I think his dad looked at it today and decieded the carb needs rebuilt so i think we have it under control. Thanks for the help
if it were just the carb, dribbling a little fuel down the barrels it would run for a few seconds. i'd pull the plugs and do a compression test while the carb is off.
