74 360 starting prob

Here we go. MY truck is hell to start. I have to pump the gas and choke the crap out of it and it starts. It back fires out the carb and it smells like gas when its trying to start. I check the timming and its good. I seem to be getting fuel. Its boggs out when i give it pedal. What should i start with to get here to go.

I would rebuild the carb and make sure all choke and accelerator linkages are set to factory settings... and then go from there.
