what is a safe engine speed for long highway trips?
also, is there a difference between gas engine oil and diesel engine oil?
whew..! congrats and welcome to the wonderful world of oil burners..! you have NO IDEA how much you have to learn... don't feel bad... i don't know when i first came on here either...! it's ok though... this is the place to come to learn about your mule.... sounds like you have a really nice truck... there are lots of things you can do to help her run better and last longer... first thing: OIL..! there are lots of guys on here who go with dino oil, (aka regular oil), i, like many on hear, prefer synthetic... my mule seems to run best on Mobil 1 TRUCK AND SUV synthetic 5w40, and i run this yearround... the 5 weight helps with the cold starts in the winters, and the synthetic protects the turbo better, jmho on that.... as for the difference... YES..! the diesel in your truck requires a different oil rating that a gas motor... check you manuals to be sure what you need... also do a search on the forum and you'll find TONS of posts on oil..! do not use regular gas engine oil in your truck as the oil might foam and that's bad in a diesel because the injectors in your truck are operated by a high pressure oil pump that uses the engine oil... i am no expert on this, but i believe foam in your oil = a psd that runs like dooo doo....
You were real close Strokin_it7.3. I gross out at 24,000lb. Measured at an Oregon truck stop one day. I like them because they leave the scales on even during off duty and you can wheel in there and take your time.
