Try to stay below 65MPH or 2,000RPMon the highway (as hard as that sometimes is!) You'll see your best fuel economy at or under 2k, rather then 3,300 where you can see the fuel puff out behind you.
On my long trips, I run it say 2500 rpms for quite some time. (85 mph or so) Is this bad? I was told early on that it was not dangerous, and the truck could do it all day. Thanks.

With my 4.88' 2500=69 mph. I do that for hundreds of miles at a stretch on while out on vacation.
Mine can cruise at 90mph about 2700-2800 rpm with the cruise on. I'm just keeping up with the fast guys on the I-5 which is a very fast interstate. When the road starts to wind thru the rolling hills, the cruise will let off going down and floor it going up. All maintaining 90mph.
Also I've nearly redlined mine going up winding roads in 2nd and watching the tach. I was surprised how silky smooth the engine becomes after 3000 rpm. I knew right then this engine is very well balanced and not going to come apart. Was also on the 100hp Predator tune too.
Whew, I got scared there for a minute Ive only had it up near the redline once, and that was when the OD was off and I was passing a Chevy :headbang: As far as the fuel cunsumption, What do you all get cruising 2500 or so rpms? Last trip to AZ I got aroung 11.6 This year I will change the oil right before the trip to see how It goes.

There is a rev limiter built into the computer. It will not allow your engine to develope any power beyond that limit. You can stand on the throttle in neutral, the engine will rev to that point and no further.
On my truck it's about 3200-3400 rpm, somewhere in that range. Lot's of people pass me as I limit my speeds to 70 at 2500 rpm when out on the interstate empty or pulling the trailer. I don't hog the left lane either like some people do.
I'll get 13 empty and 9 towing with a fresh oil change before I depart using Mobil 1 Delvac 5-40 and fresh filters all around.
