Engine Mount Bolt Pattern
I have a 1971 429 CJ that is really close to being finished, and I am going to put it in my 73 250 hiboy. Someone told me the easiest way to do this swap was the purchase of 80's truck mounts and 400 frame horns. I had some of the frame horns, and went to NAPA for the mounts. There are two studs protruding from the mount, so the plan was to cut one off. However, they don't bolt up to the block! I thought all blocks were the same, so is there a possibility I've got the wrong mounts? What's goin on here?
-Any help is appreciated
Check With BOTP or National parts depot.. they carry a set of mounts at reasonable cost.
The stock ford mounts used a 3 section cross bolted perch and don't look anything like a modified mount.

I put a 460 into my '66, and used the perches and mounts from a '77. You can use the 460 perches From any F-250 or lower truck up to '79.
The block, though, is the same up to at least '86. I used '77 mounts and '77 perches on an '86 block to put it into my '66 F-100, and it all bolts right up, no modifications required. Even the transmission crossmember bolted up like stock.
Only discrepency is in the four wheel drive... those mounts dont even come close to looking like the 2 wheelers we are used to eye balling.
L&L has the safest mounts.....along with hedders to fit in the four by four applications.
BOTP and NPD offer a similar unit to the L&L at a cheaper cost.
