Hi guy's,
Can anyone PLEASE help me with information on the motor mount bolt pattern on the 390? I have a 1973 ford F-250 and I found a 1965 390 out of a T-BIRD that I would like to use, will this block work or do I have to use a truck block that has the 4 bolt pattern?
Thank's,
Kenny.

If the engine is from a 1965 T-Bird, it will bolt up just fine. Any 1965/71 Passenger Car FE will work.
But, 1958/64 FE's were only installed in cars, have a different bolt pattern on the block that the steel/rubber insulators bolt to.
Ford changed the blocks and the pattern in 1965, which was the first year that FE's were installed in F100/350's.
Thank you soooo much for the information, i'm picking up the motor Sunday and i do not want to spend money on a motor that will not fit, i see so much said on this topic, 4- bolt pattern, a 2- bolt pattern and a 3- bolt pattern i don't know what to believe. the motor in the truck now dose have a 4-bolt pattern, that's why i didn't know if that was what i had to stay with.
Thank's again,
Kenny.

1958/64 FE engines have rounded valve covers without holes for smog valve/oil caps. Have an engine oil fill tube on the R/front side (see pics from 1949/59 car parts catalog, 390 introduced in 1961).
1961/64 390 valve covers installed in Customs/Galaxies & Thunderbirds were painted gold and have T H U N D E R B I R D embossed on them.
1961/64 390 Mercury valve covers embossed M E R C U R Y. No 352's in Merc's.
1961/64 352 valve covers were painted blue and have F O R D embossed on them.
1965/66 FE valve covers were plain (no lettering) pent roof shaped with holes for smog valve/oil caps. Powered by Ford valve covers introduced in 1967.
