Police
Very satisfied with the RCMP (State police equiv. to you in the States). But the local City police leave a lot to be desired, probably due to dimwitted direction by the local chief/police commission.
There are drunk indians panhandling and passed out, loitering in business entrances, stealing, assaulting, threating, and generally making a nuisance of themselves all over town on any given day. The local police treat them as though they are invisible.
Instead, they spend their resources catching tourists speeding 5 km (3mph) over the limit, and nailing the hardened criminal element that forgot to do up their seatbelts. Basically doing all they can do to **** off the local and tourist population, and avoiding dealing with any REAL crime. Priorites all messed.
Very unsatisfied describes them.
So the average was somewhat satisfied.

Boise cops are incapable of making a mistake. We had to go to court for the racing ticket. The judge was pretty understanding, he let her go with the minimum fine, and no license suspension. But I guess the Transportation department has more pull than the judge, cause they took her license for a month, and put an SR-22 on our insurance for 3 years. That cost several hundred bucks for driving priviliges, and to get her license back at the end of the month. It's pretty sad, my wife used to enjoy driving her car, now she's afraid most of the time. She's slowly coming back though, more so since we got it painted, at least she likes to be seen again.
In my mind, that was asking me for a bribe. I said nothing, then he told me to wait there while he wrote me a citation.
Last Saturday, I saw the same cop in the same town, while I was driving the same truck. He pulled me over for having my tail lights covered with dust. Gave me a warning to "clean this (expletive) thing up", and reminded me that my speeding ticket had'nt been paid yet. To me, that whole thing was just his way of telling me that he was keeping an eye on me. This cop has been demoted more than once in the time he's been on the force for stuff like roughing up kids (which I am not, btw... I graduated in the 1980's) and other infractions. I may be forming an opinion of the whole department because of his actions, but to me, if they close ranks around him and don't allow anything to be done to make him face the consequences of his actions, good or bad, they are the same as him.
On the other hand, the county sheriff's department and local state patrol are fine officers. I have had no trouble whatsoever with any of them.
I'm not satisfied with the police in my area. I've been pulled over multiple times for what they like to classify as "speeding" and each time they have called me a liar to my face. One cop even went as far as threatening me and making a move on my girlfriend who was in the car. Let's just say he is now standing in the unemployment line after I informed my neighbor of what happened (he's the Lt. for the local police department).
I was up in Carmel, IN one night with a couple friends and a Carmel cop pulled me over for "speeding". The speed limit in the area I was in is 45mph, and I was doing 45mph. He pulled me over and tried to tell me I was doing 75mph. I told him he was a freakin' (although with a different F word) liar and that he needs to go back to math class. Which in the state of Indiana it is legal for you to swear at a cop and talk to him like I did as long as I don't threaten him, which I didn't. Now, I have always been a good driver and always will be. I don't speed excessively (no more than 5mph over the posted limit). So why would I be doing 30mph over the speed limit in an area I know has a lot of little kids? Doesn't make sense to me. Needless to say he let me go with a warning and told me to slow down. I proceeded to swear at him again as I took off.
Don't get me wrong. There are some great cops who do their job and aren't ignorant and let the badge get their ego up. But the majority of the cops I have dealt with are ignorant and on an ego trip.
