Ive been driving for about 3 months now without turn signals...its prbly time i fix em...they shorted out a while ago, but someone had a 20 amp fuse instead of a 15, so it didnt protect the circuit to well. Where should i look next for the short? its an 81 f-100, thanks
I'd hate to be behind you on the road with no signals. You are a rolling wreck waiting to happen.
You have a blown fuse. If you install a new one, does it blow as soon as you turn on the ignition, or does it wait until you actually try to use the signals?
Crawl under the truck and look at the wires around the back of the bed. Has anyone added trailer wires? I've been amazed at how sloppy some guys are with their improvements.
There is no flasher "relay" on these trucks.

If it blows a 20 amp fuse it sounds like a dead short. Check for mods and correct sloppy work. If nothing there, look at individual light fixtures for damage or serious corrosion.
The flasher relays are in the fuse box.
Turn signal is visible from the front of the box. (Aluminum / round)
Remove the fuse panel and turn it over, the other relay on the back is for the Hazards.
It is usually good to replace both if one is bad. They are cheap
One bad can cause turns signal and hazards not to operate properly.
