I have a 2000 F150. Great truck and I love everything about it. I got a car alarm installed today and noticed on my way home that the turn signals are acting up. The alarm is connected (somehow, i didn't install it) to the turn signals to indicate when it is armed and disarmed. Here is my problem. When I put the turn signal on Right, everything works fine. The indicator on the dash and the front and rear turn signals work and they are at the normal "pace". When I turn left, the indicator on the dash is about 2x as fast. The front left turn signal is going about 2x as fast, and the rear left turn signal doesn't work at all. Upon further investigation, my left rear brake light, and light that indicates the headlight are on do not come on at all. Could this be a burned out bulb? Flasher short? do the rear turn signals use the same bulbs as the brake lights? Is this an easy fix or a more serious wiring problem. HELP! I look forward to your replies.
The reason they are flashing twice as fast is because there is a bulb burnt out. It's normal. Just replace those left rear bulbs and you'll be set. The number for them is on the bulb itself, in your owner's manual, or you can ask someone at your part store to look it up for you. Just put in the new ones and you're back to normal. And for your information, the alarm is hooked into the hazard flashers, not the turn signals. It piggy backs on the parking lights or the hazards. More than likely it is on the parking lights wire.
