Well Charlie ,calling the 4.10s a waste is a little harsh in my opinion.
Here it is for the upteenth time. At 70 MPH with 4.30s in OD you are doing 2132 RPM
At 70 MPH with 4.10s you are doing 2033 RPM. That is only 99 RPM less.
This is no big deal. When I replace my Contis, I plan to go to the 65 series Wranglers
and those slightly lower profile tires change my gears to 4.24s.
My 4.10's will burn rubber every time I stomp on the gas when starting out and I have screamed up 8% grades fully loaded up doing 5200 RPM-80MPH in what gear I was I don't know, but if the identical truck with 4.30s was beside me , same gear, same RPM, I would be out pulling him so ..........( friendly poke ) don't you be trashing my 4.10s.
i'm not trashing the 10's don. just for me i find i was a jerk not listening to fred when he said order the baby with 30's. the way I DRIVE personally i needed the 30's and could have saved my self 950 dollars . i never thought i would return to being a drag race junkie like i have.
as my wife said the difference between men and boys is the price of their toys. and i love my big blue toy better then any thing else i have owned thanks to you and fred.
I hear you Charlie, My big beast has gone form my all time favorite pickup to my all time favorite vehicle and I think more of my 1966 Comets I had as a young kid back in 1967.
Those quick 289s were fun to drive and the fast revving V10 is like a trip down memory lane. Only option I am looking at now is 60 US gal. combination tool box gas tank for when I get a fiver next spring.
I like the freedom of having a long cruising range and I still have my wholsale cardlocks and they all sell gas as well as diesel so you can save a bundle and drive all day without the hassle of dealing with small service stations.
Wrench if you are thinking about installing a aux fuel tank take a look at my gallery (its the front box). If you want I can take more pictures of the transfer pump and fuel gauge setup.
Denny

Denny, nice looking rig you have there. Thanks for the offer but for now I am just going to put the tank in the bed when I have the Fiver on and hand pump it in my tank. Once I retire and want the tank in there full time I might wire up an electric pump.
Thanks Wrench My truck is pretty much only used for one thing so having the tank toolbox and extra box in the bed is no big deal. I sure like the 88 gals of fuel when traveling I can pick when and where I get fuel. When we go to Florida in November I will only have to stop for fuel two times if I chose.
