I've got 10500 on my truck now. And this thing has loosend upbig time. I towed this weekend and the more miles you get on these things the more powerfull they get. I think that the diesel engineers need to do moore overtime. I have had both 7.3 , 6.0 and 2v v-10 and the three valve is the best of both diesel and gas, lots of low end torque and a hole lots of top end horse power.
I have enjoyed watching that thread progess and since I seem to find myself in the middle of plenty of those "type" of threads; I think I'll just stand on the sidelines and watch this time. The oil burners over there are real easily fired up so just keep letting them have it fred!!!
kelro... shoot I been too busy and havn't been to the diesel stop in some time... beware to always have your flame suit on over there... they some mean butt heads who love to lurk and pounce in the gas forum.
I will race stop light to stop light any stock PSD any DAY with my 3v V10 4.30:1 stone cold stock Superduty 4x4 LONG bed 4 door 7800lb white King Ranch BSEG machine.
And win every time.
Now if the other feller is gonna cheat and spend all the green on a 4" down pipe, wicked wheel, propane, serious chip, BTS trany and 4.56:1 gears well then all that proves is that he has a lot of money to spend, much smaller peter, and if you think about it kinda pathetic... really lets see... $3700 more for the motor, another $2500 in mods... so we got about $6000 cash tied up just to beat a poor little 415 CI $510 option motor.
still got a little peter
Guess I will pass on getting a 'vet also.... something about every body having the same thing kinda don't make it special any more... gee seems like any old joe can finance a PSD and strut around the suburb thinking he is king of the hill except all the neighbors wifes and daughters are out to wall mart or SafeWay in the same truck...
So when I pull into Sonic it is fun for the soda hop to remark how pretty! , how quiet!, and my oh my is that really a big V10 ? Gosh that must be a powerful motor! Bet you pay a lot for gas! Sure don't see any like that around here... Funny, three stalls down is a White King Ranch with a rattling clattering PSD running the AC exactly same truck as mine and the pretty little soda hop just walked right by it to ooogle my ride BSEG indeed! Think she saw the Triton V10 Badge prominently out front? ( not hidden back on the door in shame?) (evil grin) Nick I know you are lurking!
I don't lurk here
It takes a big man to admit that, so, you redeemed yourself with that statement ironically.
Haha, I don't know about you guys, but an (honest) 19mpg mixed (old '96) is really nice right now, and I think I've already gone over the *V10 is for women* aspect with you guys ...so, it's in your court now * waits for V10 guys to realize that PSD are superior to their engines in every way*

I test drove the 6.0 before I bought my V10, from a dead stop engine idling, the V10 would smoke the diesel in the initial stomp on the gas. I stomped on the 6.0 and to my surprise the thing didn't even hardly start moving until the turbo came up to speed. This was very irratating and running a stock 6.0 is not for me, my friend has a 6.0 that's chipped and it really gets up and goes.
I bought a V10 since I could not coerce my wife that the Diesel was better. She gave me the ultimatum that if I in the Diesel (6.0) could beat her in the V10 I could have it. Damn I hate it when she is right but I love the V10 especially since diesel has almost always been higher than midgrade gas for the almost 2 years I have been a happy owner with absolutely no problems. The difference was not in the gears since they were both 3.73s. Now she is lifted with 35s and still the same gears. The biggest difference was mine is '03 2WD and the Diesel was '04 4WD and $16K more. That 16k almost bought her a new Jetta outright and I still got a new motorcycle out of the deal. It was my first diesel drive (other than military) but I tried 2 or three times and she always won but she is a fine driver. Never made it over 60-65 mph racing. Funny thing is I told the salesman it would take a race to get the sale and he handed us the keys. The unlucky owner of the White EB 6.0 X may blame me for engine troubles. My apology.
Igotoneforya - Funny you should make the point that for the price difference you could get a Jetta and a motorcycle in addition to your V-10. I paid $20K last year for a stripped down F350 dually with a $15K receiver, and made the point that for the price difference with the $45K trucks being purchased you could by a real nice high mileage car or truck too. Drive one for power, one for mileage. Couldn't get a rise though.

Well Nick it is good to have a good sense of humour and when you have to replace your 7.3's turbo for around 5 grand ( Canadian ) , well all the money you have saved on fuel will have a good place to go. No, I'll keep my cheap maintenance V10, thanks.
Also , I hope your truck is an F350 with a real man's front end. I hope the old girl isn't
an F250 with one of those weak IFS front ends that were such an embarassement to Ford owners everywhere. That front end was for little girlies only.
Oh ha ha , waiting for you to realize a lot of us V10 guys had your old PSDs.
No offense Nick, I know you can dish it out and I know you can take it.
You are a fellow Canuck and I just wanted to tease you back, take care, Wrench.
Thats because everyone knows its true!!! I drive a $352 buick to work and back, car makes an honest 22-25mpg which is double what the truck makes, I've racked nearly 11k miles up on the car and I've done nothing more than a $50 alignment to it. to each there own but my truck stays low mileage, clean and will alst forever at the current rate of about 6k per year it gets driven.
Yeah, for an old guy that got kicked out of school on his 17th Birthday back in 1967,
I can bang out text quicker than a speeding bullet.
Actually , I am on a natural high right now. We were in Victoria this morning saw two accidents a block apart . One was a Crotch Rocket ( murder cycle ) on the ground,
It was rear ended by a Toyota Tercel and that car's front end was in tough shape.
Anyway my wife and I were so worried it was a fatality but we just watched the news and the Motorcycle driver has only minor injuries. What a releif. We have had a rash of
fatalities on Motorcycles lately and one young kid only had his 2wheel rocket for 2 days when he killed himself.
A lot of people calling for these bikes to only be sold to experienced riders.
I used to ride a bike as a kid, but I know these new high power machines are beyond my capability. I'll stick with my V10 CC for thrills.

I know how to drive my truck, no turbo replacement will needed in the near future...untill that 6.4L comes out, I may have an erge to twin turbo
Sadly, yes, TTB, but in defense, it has held up fairly well to the abuse
Way to turn the girly comments around on me, haha, don't worry Wrench, I'm not taking any of this to heart, I know you guys are confused and depressed.

I was asked to leave about 2 months after my 17th birthday ... for staying in the computer room too much. I was immediately hired by the consulting firm that ran the mainframe for the schools on Long Island (they called me when they found out I left HS), and I've been a consultant ever since.
I currently work (from home) for two Fortune 100 companies...
Ok Nick maybe just a little... I had a post deleted on the other site and my repost (cleaned up) got the thread locked! Dang the oil sniffers over there can dish it out but have to cheat when the water starts to get a little deep.
I been making the same challenge for over a year now and surprised that not one Texan PSD owner will slide up beside my tall, long, heavy truck and try to take my money.... shoot there is only ONE condition Stock PSD, thats it.... so I wonder some of my fellow Texans being a little on the effeminate side... now that is depressing! (evil grin back at ya)
