Exclamation Hypermax Chip?????VS Predator

I friend of mine test drove a 01 PSD this weekend and in the glove box was a Hypermax chip that reads, "1999+ F250 - F550 Auto, HOT-ROD. He inquired to the dealer about it and they said he could have it, for free. He didn't buy the truck but gave the chip to me for free as well. Now I am wondering, what the heck will this thing do? Anybody have one? HP and torque ratings?, anything? It is silver if that helps. No other numbers anywhere on it. I would like to try it but would like more info. Am I right to assume this is a custom burn chip? Or is it a stock? I have the Predator tuner now so what should I do? ANY INFO WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED- Thanks ahead of time.

A chip will over-ride a tuner making the tuner useless. There are some that are stackable, but they are fuel boxes and chips not the tuner. I believe all tuners would be over-ridden by chips. That is what was explained to me. I would not run it if I did not know what it was, but that is just me.

I agree, I will not run it until I know what it is. I was wondering what the advantage over the Predator would be but since I dont even know what this chip is rated at I think I will see if anyone else chimes in before I go any further. I did a search and I cant even find a web site for this chip. I would never try to stack it with my predator, just curious as to what the diff would be-

Upon a little more research, I found out it is an 80hp tune, but that's about it. Has anyone heard of Hypermax? Is it made by Hypertech by any chance? Any info would be great.

Well, bad news, they said that since it says 99 on the chip it will not work in my truck, and that I would need to send it in and for $100 bucks they will burn it to my truck. Oh well, does anyone have one of these chips? are they good? I would rather not spend the money if it is not worth it, I already have the Predator.

My personal opinion is, stick with the Predator. Hypermax is not known for producing high hp. I think they are relatively new to diesels. On their web page they show high hp ratings. If you read it, they are getting their #'s by the bigger injectors and a bigger turbo. Hell, that will give anything bigger hp. They are just not proven enough for me.

I am really leaning that way myself, I always like to try something new but not with my truck!!! I will ask around the next few days and see what turns up. The good news is that I already found someone to buy the chip so I am not out anything!!!
