FREE, to the first person who PM's me and can use it. This chip was in my truck when I bought it, and I have since upgraded to a DP Tuner and no longer need it. It has been gathering dust in my office. I figure, if there is a college student out there with a 7.3 who has no money for a tuner and would like a bit more power, I'd be happy someone could use it!
Here's the deal:
The sticker on this thing says 99 250/350 Auto. So, I do believe the PCM programming is a bit different in 99 compared to later trucks...so unless someone knows better, I'm thinkin this should only be plugged into a 99 PCM in a truck with an auto tranny.
It provides safe power, but you should have a pyro gauge in the very least. I had this chip in there for years. Increases your HP from the stock 250 to about 300 or so.
Completely plug and play..no wires, nothing else needed.
Will it make any difference if the PCM it was attached to was an earlybird? Not sure if there are programming differences early to late.
It will not work...meaning it wont do any damage, but it won't do anything at all, it'd just be a paperweight?
Thank you. Could use some expertise here.
Meaning that if your PCM code is say, XLE4, then unless it goes on another XLE4, it can do anything from not start at all to cranks/smokes, or starts and won't shift, etc.
Most all 2-bank chips on a non-matching PCM code will just cause a crank with no start. A lot of it has to do with the PCM definition (the way the binary code is addressed). For example, if the chip was burned for an XLE4 PCM, then it may or may not work on similar PCMs with the same definition of VHAE9 like VCQ4, JBG4, FUT4, GLF4, HPA4, VCQ5, JBG5, XLE5.

Good luck!
Yes, my PCM is XLE4, I'm impressed you pulled that one right off the top of your head. Of course, the majority of your posts go way over my head in technical terms most of the time, so I'm not surprised either.
This is info I was looking for, thank you. I'm going to call Hypermax for good measure, so I suppose all that's left is to find out from these two guys if either of them has a matching PCM.
Guys, here is what your PCM looks like:
The part that goes through the firewall is where you'll find the PCM #.
Bill - I have very small hands...even for someone who is 5'5 3/4" I wear kids gloves.
