I have 4 settings of head lights depending on how i hit the dimmer switch,
high beam
low beam
off
partial highbeam
its weird if I dont hit the switch just right to dim my highbeams my lights will either go out all together or go to a step inbetween high and low beam.
my question is where are the headlights switched? are they switched in the floor mounted high beam switch or is there a relay under dash or something, my guess is the floor dimmer switch is faulty and needs replacing but i thought id run it accross the forum.
The switch carries all of the current. See the tech paper here on converting to relays if you are interested. It is a worthwhile upgrade on our trucks.

-No, but you could wire relays up to do that. Just have the output from the high beam relay trigger the low beam relay thru a diode. The increased heat will probably melt your headlight connector tho.
