I am having a headlight issue on my 2000 excursion. In low beam mode only one light works. In high beam mode, only the opposite light works. However, if you pull the lever back for temporary highbeams… Both lights work. One in highbeam and one in low. Not exactly sure where to start on this one. Suggestions?
Sounds like the low beam light that works, has the high beam element burned out, and vice versa for the other light.
Both high and low beams activate and light up when you pull back on the lever because that is the function for that mode, it activates low and high at the same time.
Just got a chance to start working on this. Did the obvious thing first. Switched the bulbs. Got The same result.
What does that mean? Are you saying the same light that had the low beam out, still has the low beam out after the switch? Or are you saying the side that had the low beam out is still out, after the switch?
My old X had an off the books wiring for the H/L light left and right
Under the hood in the power distribution panel. check all fuses and trace back
Also test wiring at back side of the connection.
