Hello,
I have an 83 Bronco 351w E40D 33bfg's in Keywest Fl.
Yesterday I was changing my fluid and filter (Yes now I know that the filter doesnt need changing) anyways when I got my tranny pan off a little plastic peice was just sitting there in the bottom of my pan. it looks like a round top with a hardened o-ring.
I took the peice out and put my pan back on and replaced the fluid and drove arround fine. its just that every now and then it slips outta gear and I have to reve up my gas peddle and when my rpms go down it picks up back in gear.
If anyone has a schematic so that I might find where it goes and put that little plastic peice back.
I will try to get pictures posted....
Thanks.
That's a dip stick hole plug. When the transmission is put in at the factory it seals the hole while assembly and when they put the filler tube in they push the plug into the transmission. You can throw it away.
They did not have a E4OD in 1983, They had a C-5, C-6 and a AOD on the Automatic Transmission side.

thank you for the refreshing news about the filler cap.. that makes sense....
Plus I believe that the E4OD has a fibre screen filter that you'd want to change...maybe....some say no..some say yes... and the c6 and aod have a metal mesh screen
