Can anyone help me locate the Bell Chime on a 2000 X?
I have searched, but cannot find.
I would like to remove it or disconnect it so it does not make noise when the door is open and key is left in.
Thanks for the input. In the older vehicles, the Chime Module use to be something like a relay that could you could plug or unplug.
Seems like they have attempted to make it no so easy to fool with.
Do not like the noise with key in the ignition, lights on, door open, etc.

Maybe someone has a easy method to disable.
Anybody?
I think there is a wire you can cut on the ignition, but don't remember which one it was.
There is an EASY 1 minute reversible fix for the door chime dinging with the key in the ignition.
Get a nail,or small screwdriver (phillips) some tape and your keys.
Go out to your truck and look under the steering column near the ignition switch. You will see 2 holes. 1 of these holes has a screw in it the other one doesn't. Put your key in the ignition and turn it to the point just before it starts.
Back to the holes under the column, There is a hole that the nail has to go into about 3/4 of an inch into the plastic steering column cover. Put the nail in the one without the screw annd wiggle it around until you can see the ign switch move a little. Try to wiggle the key and nail in the hole until the switch comes out.
When it does you will see a 1/4 " by 1" metal strip, cover that with tape and reinsert the ignition onto the column.
Most cars I have seen have some sort of small metal contact from the ignition switch to the steering column. In some cases you might have to remove the plastic around the column to see where the little hole is that the nail has to go into. The hole in the column has a little pin in it that has to be pushed in to release the ign switch. But remember to have the ign key in the "run" position for it to come out.
Thanks for the input. Took your advise this morning, and it worked like clockwork.
Used a thin phillips head screw driver in the appropriate hole, wiggled the ignition key, and out came the ignition key assembly. Took a piece of black electrical tape, cut it to size and put over metal contact strip.
Snapped the ignition key assembly back in, and no chime with doors open and key left in.
