Key in Ing. Acc. on and no door chime !!

Here's a fix for those who like to listen to there radio's with the door open and no door chime, key in the Acc. position.

All I did was remove the driver side door panel, and located the wires coming from the power door lock. Locate the small green & light brown strip wire. This is your signal wire for the chime and also your dome light. All I did was run a wire into the cab and hooked it up to a small toggle switch on the dash. With your key in the Acc. position open your door, then flip the switch. There's now no annoying door chime, and you can listen to your radio. Also this switch shuts off the dome light from constantly from stayig on.

Very cool!

Let's hope it works for all model years.

Which year is your truck?

Got pics? I'll put them in the FAQ.

Why didn't you just unplug the chime and turn the cab light to the off position? Just curious...

Key in Ing. Acc. on and no door chime !!

You can't unplug the doorchime, it's imbeded in the module or circut board somehow. I think this a much easier and safer fix.

My truck has no power options besides under the hood.. No power locks, winders, etc, etc. WIll the same wires apply to my truck. I'm needing to kill this dam chime before it drives me to suicide.

Any help at all would be great...

Turn your key to the on position then using a probe from under the lock cylinder press up to release the lock cylinder. Pull it out and then using a piece of electrical tape cover the contacts for the "key in ignition" switch. However be aware that this will also disable the antilockout function if you have it. Then reinsert the lock back into the column and enjoy the radio with the doors wide open.

another fix, take out the four screws under the steering wheel cover, follow the wire to the key cylinder un clip the clock spring, and that is what Ford calls it, the clock spring, its just a little metal tab that grounds when you insert your key, the cover is under the column, it takes 2 min to do this..

Key in Ing. Acc. on and no door chime !!

These fixes your talking about , only works with the key in the ignition. What your fixing is the ignition chime with the key in. With this fix the truck still has to be in the start position on the ignition. The fix I mentioned in the earlier post, shuts off the door ajar sensor or switch, when the door is open key in the acc. position, and radio on. I used both fixes to achieve this.

No CHIME !!!!

I tried to do this, and it did not work. I took out the ignition, thru a trial and error placed tape accross ALL metal contectors on the ignition itself and nothing worked. I even removed that blaze orange plastic thing with the connecters on it that grounds when you remove and insert the key and still no luck. I did not try the wire in the door thing. I was following the directions for this in the FAQ section. It states to place tap accross the "brass" conectors. I however do not have any brass anything in my ignition. Anyone have any insight?

Thanks.

For the gentelman that ran the switch to the dash, could you not just place a small toggle switch on the door in a not so obvious spot? I think that would be very simple to do, and save having to run a bunch of wire.
