This "door chime" or bell, will not turn off with the key removed from the ignition and the driver's door opened. If the driver's side door is closed the chime will silence with or without the key.
I have searched around the steering column trying to locate the exact cause and have had little luck. One part that could be the problem is an electrical wire (Part Number:F85Z14A664AA) that runs from the key ignition cylinder to a wiring harness under/behind the steering column. The dealership says this part can only be changed by replacing the entire "clock spring", an apparent air bag part. Anybody else have experience with this problem?

My truck has the same problem, although I can move the ign switch a little and it will stop. Has been like that ever since I replaced the shifter boot in the steering column.
I used to be able to jiggle the key and the chime would stop, but not anymore. I noticed today that the headlight chime is different from the door chime. So it certainly has something to do with the door/ignition key.
It is the ground wire on the bottom of the ignition cylinder. You have to plug it back in or cut it off all together. In cut mine off. you will have to remove the column cover
