Bonds-Bonds-Bonds

Hey look. I'm a S.F. Giants fan.

From what I hear, Barry is suppose to be back on the field in September of this year.

You either love him or hate him. You watch him when he's at the plate, hoping he either strikes out or blast one 500'.

I'll watch him when he's at the plate, but don't care much for him outside the diamond.

Do you have any such players that you feel the same way?

Sosa, Giambi, McGwire, Palmeiro, Bonds, Canseco, get the pattern. I am a baseball freak and this besides the amazing amounts of money these guys make, I just can't understand how you can put these chemicals into your body. Yea, I get trying to be the best but do it the old fashioned way. BTW Manny Ramirez of my beloved Bosox is doing his best to **** me off, begging out of games and refusing to enter games when the team needs you most when your making 19 million a year is unacceptable.

I don't know..........I get this feeling people think you can juice up, come to the plate and hit home runs. Like any WWE wrestler could just magically slam 60 HR's.

It still takes an extraordinary amount of work to get where they're at.........and don't think for one minute pitchers haven't been taking advantage of modern science.

Now, why do we care what their health is like in the future? That their huevos are paquito, brain tumors, zits???

Do we want MotoX banned because it could cripple our youth? How about boxing?

Don't start up with, "But the young ball player........." That is a crock. Smoking, alcohol, all that crap is still legal.

Typical America.......nobody wants to take responsibilty for what their own children do..........it used to be, "It's Beavis and Butthead's fault".........now it'll be, "It's Barry Bond's fault". C'mon parents, look in the mirror.

BTW, I hate Bonds...........greatest player;?.......possible. Jerk as a human being though.

Turn outs are on..............flame away!!

Flame On!

They should throw the bums out and make them forfeit every penny they earned as a professional athlete and all other revenue they earned as a result of being a pro athlete such as endorsements.

Taking steroids and other metabolic drugs is unethical, dangerous and banned for very good reasons. It is self destructive. Anyone wanting to compete as an amateur or pro athlete should not have to participate in such a dangerous practice to stay on an even playing field. The problem has been around a long time. It's not limited to baseball and it's not limited to professional sports either. It's a widespread problem in high school sports as well. Why? Lot's of reasons. Pressure from peers, parents, coaches to be better athletes. Young adults know college and pro athletes do it, so they think it's OK for them to do it.

Back to the suggestion to just let them take steroids and accept it as part of today's sports. After all, if a person wants to use tobacco and alcohol, it's OK because it's legal right? Most things in moderation are OK including alcohol (my opinion). Tobacco use in moderation is probably OK too, but I don't know of anyone who could ever use tobacco in moderation. It's highly addictive and just because it's legal doesn't mean it's safe, at least not the way it's processed and used by most people. So what does all this have to do with steroids? Steroid use causes heart problems, liver damage, and other health problems. It's not safe. If drinking alcohol and smoking made you a better athlete (along with all the bad stuff it does to you), would you encourage your child or anyone else to consume alcohol and smoke to become a better athlete, knowing that it's doing damage to their mind and body? It's unethical.

As far as Bonds is concerned, I believe he will not only stay out of baseball this year, but that he may be lining himself up to retire from the sport next year. I only say this because I believe he knowingly used steroids and that he would rather retire than have to face the music. Let's face it, love him, or hate him, he is a shoe in for the hall of fame. If he comes back next year, he is going to be scrutinized to death! I'm not a Barry Bonds fan, but I respect his ability, within reason. He is a great hitter (defense is pretty much gone these days), but how good would he be if he was not allowed to wear all that football gear that allows him to crowd the plate?? pitchers can't go inside on him, because he isn't intimidated. If you can't go inside on a batter, you either go outside, ensuring a BB, or you go straight ahead allowing our generations best hitter to add another bomb to his record... Bonds owns the plate.

Steroids? They are just bad. Throw out the players who use them, including Mr Viagra, himself. That was the biggest shocker to me. I hated to admit that Canseco may have been telling the truth all along. Whether or not you care about the health of the players, steroids are CHEATING!! they are not allowed and anyone caught using them should be banned from the sport.

Me?

I don't watch or spectate in professional sports. These players are nothing more than hired mercenaries, it's as simple as that. The latest scoop with Terrell Owens is Exhibit 'A' of this. They're all individual business men, doing nothing more than exercising/maximizing their right to free enterprise. This perception that these guys care about their home town fan base is spin on their part.

I love baseball. I played it until I 'hit the wall' in Jr. College. IMO, Barry Bonds is a fake, and his record braking 73 home runs should be stricken from the record books (along with Mark McGwire's and Sammy Sosa's for that matter). We can all debate the current capabilities of today's pitchers over yesteryear's 'til the cows come home, but the strategically timed 'change-up' is still the best pitch in baseball, and that has never changed. Roger Meris still holds the record in my mind.

As a side note, my Limited Addition, Danbury Mint Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire gold leaf baseball cards that were fetching upwards of $150.00 two years ago, are now worth $25 bucks......

To heck with Bonds, I'm not going to root for someone who is obviously juiced up. I understand that no WWE wrestler is going to hit 60 - 70 home runs in a baseball season. What the problem is, you mix these guys who can hit the ball for 40 - 50 home runs a season and give them that extra power adding 10 - 15' every hit and a lot of pop flies become home runs.

I don't agree with MgWire or Sosa records being stricken. That is, unless there is definitive proof that they were juiced. I know, I know, how can you say Big mac wasn't juiced? I can't. But I do know that when he was confronted about the whole "Andro" thing, he fessed up to it- even though it was a legal substance at the time- and quit taking it. What else he did is a matter of speculation. Besides, the 1998 homerun chase was the most exciting baseball season in recent memory, I'd hate to see it tainted. Now, if somebody can prove that Mac or Sosa was on 'roids- too bad, delete ther records.

I have to chuckle at that.............The same way you'd 'splain ANYTHING to your kids..........we're all acting like it's the only issue with these prima donna turds. How do you explain the criminal records of some, the child support issues, the bling bling?

Charles Barkley said it best a few years ago, "I aint no role model....the father/parents should be." (paraphrasing I'm sure)

Again, I don't consider it "lazy"..........it's not a magical elixer.

Conspiracy theory on; having the Federal Govt. involved is a great way of detracting from REAL issues that the country is facing right now.

So??? Chicks dig the long ball............The HR is what the "average" fan wants to see.............much more than a technical pitcher's dual.

Dang, I wish I had taken notes on that HBO show "REAL SPORTS"

The thing is that it is not ILLLEGAL for medical purposes..........it is a controlled substance however.

The HBO show had the well known Dr. who administers the stuff. His claim is that after MUCH personal testing and monitering and having specific goals it can be used safely.

No, you can't buy vials of crap of the street and jam it into your thigh....that aint right.

Being on a regiment, as a PROFESSIONAL athlete, I still don't see a problem with it. It's the OD'ing that causes the problems.....Added testestrone don't cause the boys to shrivel up...........too much does.

If your HS kid gets on it.............it's your fault as a parent, same as if the kid was doing crack.
