"His opponent, weighing in at xxx lbs., with a record of x wins, x loses, x by way of knockout, RocketScience."
Sorry guys, at the time I thought it was funny. Actually, I still do.
DOHC, you're goin down my friend! Why? Because you made a gross tactical error. You see, you forgot we're both over forty, and taking 'roids at our age has a terrible effect, and describing it here will most certainly violate FTE guidlines. So do yourself a favor and bow-out of this battle now, while you can still control your bodily functions.
Game over dude.
Now, back to the subject matter......
Somewhere around 85 mph and above (i1dery, feel free to add to this, as I know you've been there too) the ball starts to make this hissing-spitting sound as it approaches the dish. This is very intimidating to say the least. Your first reaction is to bail-out. The first time I ever faced a 95 mph + pitcher, I struck out in four pitches, never swinging the bat one time!
I had a buddy once who mouthed-off that he could hit a Major League fastball. He even bet me $50 he could do it in less than ten pitches. At the time my brother still pitched in College and had a 92 mph heater, so I set it up.
Needless to say, he never even got a piece of the ball, and I was treated to a steak dinner at the Metropolitan Bar & Grill.
Bring it on you Kurt Cobain wannabe.........I just have to be careful you don't hit me with that big STOP sign on a stick....phhhhht...crossing guards gone wild!!!
I have to agree with Rocketscience in all he is saying, and i'll have to say (might get me in trouble) that your a moron and
to me it's obviouse you dont know what really your talking
about from what i've read from you and further more i would
say you already lost the argument when you start belittleing
others and making childish comments as you did with rocketscience. And dohc anyone can hit a consistant fast ball
once the timing is down hense pitching machine, but the game
changes when a real person is throwing the ball becuz of all the
veriables of the ball coming at you up down outside inside curve
so you have to hope that you get the bat at the precise spot that
you think the ***** gonna be at, easy you think? n o t . And you can sometimes guess what the pitcher will throw depending on
the pitch count.
WHOE BETSY!
OK, secrets out - DOHC and I are good friends (really), and he was just havin a little fun with me. Not to worry, sometimes they let him out of the cage over there in the Ford vs The Competition forum.
Relax!!
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
This has all been very interesting so far. I do want to add one thing, though. Pitching machines often times throw curves, sinkers, etc, depending on how they catch in the wheels. Couple that with the fact that you can't see the delivery and they are pretty tough to hit. Best use for them is timing, I think. BTW, if steroids don't do that much for an athlete, in terms of hitting ability, then why take them at all? Is it possible that they also help you see the ball a little quicker? Maybe quicken your reflexes? Just a though...
A pitching machine no matter how slow or fast or curve slider you
name it the machine is consistant and will pitch anything in the
same spot for you to hit, on the other hand a Jamie Moyer type
pitcher you cant tell up down inside out all over the plate, much
harder to hit if you dont know what type or where it will end up at.
And for rocketscience the fastest pitches where from a machine
100mph and yes i could hit it i new where it would be, but by far
it was harder to hit off my team mates at under 90mph due to the
fact i had no idea where it would be. And to make my head swell
the most memorable game i ever had (on 8mm) was in high school allstar game and no poop here i pitched a no hitter and hit
three home runs right handed to left, and left handed to center and
right fields. And when i mean no hitter the other team was credited with a couple foul ***** thats it.
Heard on the news that they had samples of Lance Armstrong's blood or urine from his first tour win and it tested positive for some sort of performnce enhancing drug.
Of course he denied it.
Anyone else hear this story?
Not to bring up Brett Boone again, but you gotta be wonderin' what's going through his head (as I'm sure he's off the 'roids now); "Was it the steroids, or wasn't it the steroids?......Is it all in my head or what?.......Will I ever recover from this slump?........Maybe I shoulda never taken 'm........Will I ever play in the Major Leagues again?.........AHHHHHHH!!!!!"

Poor guy.
hard not to with all his money and all. Personally i think he is a
solid player and consistant at that, but for one year or two he had
everything working in his favor, as we ALL can say we have had at
one time or another, no drugs just things went right.
