Post Horn not working

I have a 1976 F-250 4X4 Custom cab. I can't get the horn to work. I have traced the problem to the steering shaft not being grounded. My question is, How do I ground the steering shaft?

I have tried with a spring going to ground, but can't get on it above the u-joint. I think that the u-joint in the steering shaft may be causing it to be isolated from ground.

Any help would be appreciated.

Dan

The way most I have seen are grounded is by attaching a short piece of wire on either side of the joint, to "jump" the ujoint. The wire rotates with the shaft and has enough flex to bend with the joint. This is how you ground across the rag joint style as well.
