does anyone know where i can get new insulation for the outside of my a/c box under the hood. im getting ready to put my new motor in and i would like to replace it, whats left of it. before i drop the motor in.
I think that in Motorhaven they sell that aluminum-backed insulation, use that along with aluminum duct repair tape- not the stuff of a million uses, but actual ductwork tape.
I don't know about the original stuff but home stores and hardware stores have aluminum backed foam tape about 2 inches wide 1/8" or 3/16" thick for insulating pipes. They also have a heavy aluminum foil backed adhesive tape 2" wide that works extremely well for making the installation look great. Do not crumple the tape to mash the foam, keep it as smooth as possible. Get the surfaces very clean b4 you apply the tape.
Thanks for using FTE!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 07-Nov-02 AT 11:46 AM (EST)]I think the stuff you need is aluminum on both side with asbestoes in the middle so it wont burn on the exhaust. Maybe jc whitless or summit.
