Wow that is alot. Time to take it to another Dealer and give someone else a chance at it. I don't think Matt (PSD 6.0L) has gone through that many. LOL (just pokin fun Matt)
"Did ya try shifting out of first ?"
It was an automatic, and contrary to popular belief they will get moving without putting them in L1 (you asked for it) LOL

There's an old joke, I mean OLD, that has a couple hotrodders in it. One guy has a new car, and one has an old jalopy. Unfortunately I can't remember it, but after one guy severely whips the other guy the winner when asked about the race says something to the effect of: "how do you get this thing out of first?"
Like I said, it's my belief that my boss has something tearing up his turbos. He's gone back to a factory turbo, and burnt it up. Now he's back to a another Banks turbo, or part turbo. No knock on the actual engine, but me thinks the vario-turbo thingie might have been rushed into production a little too fast. Ford's next diesel is going to a twin turbo. Whether they sequential or not remains to be seen. Porsche had a seq turbo a few years ago. 1 built low pressure and then fed into the high pressure turbo. It was a monster when tuned properly.
The variable vane turbo has been around for a few years. basicly two things take out A turbo, lack of oil, or something going though it othere that air.

I wonder if he's just shutting it off after a 55MPH+ run on the highway, and not letting it spin down before removing it's oil supply ?

Could be, this is his first diesel. He's the type of guy who listens to someone say; "hey you need this for your truck, it'll be fast and strong and better looking so buy this-this-this and this". Someone told him he's got 500 hp and 1,000 ft lbs after all the Banks stuff he's bought. I've ridden in it and driven it, I didn't feel it but it's hard to tell in a diesel since there's no rpms. I do know he drives it like he drives his Jag, or his Infiniti. Get in, fire it up and pedal to the metal. My guess is his next truck will be gas powered, he asks me questions all the time about my V10. I took him for a ride and gave him a little show, he said "wow, this van is surprising".
He's Going Back To Gas? I Think I Fill Beter Since I Got Rid Of My Gas.
Basically he has already gone back to gas. He has to ride in my V10 when his PSD is in the shop. He doesn't tow, he drives a short distance to work, etc, etc, etc. His diesel is overkill, and he can't use it nor rely on it. Once I lose trust in something I'm looking for a replacement, wives, trucks, bosses, dogs, whatever.
Thats where I believe a lot of problems occur with ANY brand of diesel today. People who have driven gas engines all their life, expect they can do the same with these new powerful engines. They just dont understand how different these engines are mechanically. Your boss is a classic example of this.
...He has a Jag and an Infiniti??? What exactly are you doing in your line of work?

road-racing, miss an apex to a corner and you go off-road, obviously a weak attempt at humor. Hey, some are funny, and some are only funny to me. Juan Manuel Fangio was a famous driver in the 40's and 50's. His son Fangio Jr was big time in the 70's and 80's. There is no JMF III that I know of, but I had to pick someone I thought everyone would recognise by name, I guess I was wrong eh ?
