I own both also so I can vote for both. Personally I like driving my PSD and my wife likes her V10. I am looking at purchasing a F-450 or F-550 and will most likely go with the V10 due to driving conditions / application. Final verdict, can go wrong with either.

International Harvester 7.3 PSD, it just sounds RIGHT!
Fuel economy, torque, etc.

Heck, even a Cummins, at least it's an American diesel.
No Durapad, er, max for me.

V10 vs PSD

I had a 2001 and a 2003 V10 XLT'S SC LWB. Hauling a 32' 5ver. 8-10 MPG towing. Never a problem with those engines. Little slow going over big hills with my 3.73 gears. Wanted to try 6.0 this time. I lease my trucks and monthly was just $50.00 more. Loaded up a 2005 Lariat LWB CC Dually 3.73. 10-12 MPG hauling and up to 17.9 driving like granny. I would definately get another 6.0 if i have good service with it for the 3 yr. lease. Plus it just flies over those hills.

I also have both. One F250 V10 Quad cab and One 7.3L PSD F450 forestry dump. Both run great and I feel both pull equally as well , in their own way (when pulling my chipper or 10.000lbs dump trailer).

What would i buy if doing it again??? personal truck i would for sure get the V10...If work truck then would get the PSD.

I really should have added the 'Both' option when I made it. O well, If you have both, just pick the one you like best.

I considered purchasing a V-10 when looking for my F250 because the cost was much higher for a PSD. After weighing my options I bit the bullet and bought a PSD. I love it!!

I drive short trips to work so A PSD isn't the best for me. The V10 is a major improvement over my old 5.8 gas it move the load very well.

LOL, I second Steve_250

I'd say a company is getting pretty desperate if they have Izuzu help them design a motor....

I like gas engines more, and bought the V10 because it wasn't much more than the 5.4L. I also like the fact the V10 has a higher payload and same towing capacity as the PSD, but I probably could have gotten away with the 5.4L.

lets not forget the moderator handles both areas. as long as it stays clean as nick asked it's staying here. so the 5.4 guys can also chime in.

Love the V-10, but that doesn't mean I have a problem with deisels - I've just never driven one. The V-10 is adequate for my objective, which is towing a boat. I generally drive a Dodge, rather than a Mercedes. Doesn't necessarily mean I have a problem with Mercedes.

I own 2 PSD's. Used to drive a V10 at work. They are all good, I just like the Diesel's.

The Diesel option was around $4,300 and would take 100,000 miles to pay for itself. I plan to run them 300,000 to 500,000 miles. Hopefully I can.

Looked at a Maxipad the other day and it was a $7,600 option. That would take 200,000 miles to pay for itself with these new fuel prices. I'd lean towards a gas looking at these numbers.

captchas...I never suggested that it leave here.

I was merely trying find a way to get the other forums attention to the thread as I thought NickFordMan wanted polling input from as many eligible voters as possible.

Sorry Nick, didn't mean to hijack or make this difficult / controversial for anyone.
