AC not very cold

I haven't measured the vent temps, but the last few days we've been in the 90s here. I know a lot of guys complained about the AC on these trucks not being cold enough, but I haven't followed the thread to see if there has been a resolution. Mine gets cool, but not cold like any other car I've had. Anyone have any input on this? Is there a TSB?

Same on mine. I took it in and was told it was only a few ounces low but after it was filled it blew at 37 degrees. It seems if the systems on these trucks are just a little low it can make a big difference on these trucks. Also emember that the old r-12 ran much colder than the new 134.

I had a '86 f150 with R12 and it would almost make snow in the middle of summer

I will have to take mine in to the dealer to get it looked at. I only had the truck week and the a/c was the first thing I noiticed

This makes me wonder if they are all filled on the low side at the assembly line.

One thing I do know for those with auto climate control as in the lariats, in order to get max cool you have to lower the temp down to 60 degrees, and when it gets cool enough, raise as needed. Also on a hot day to get max cooling, to initially get the cab temp down, keep it on 60 and in recirculate mode. Once it gets to a comfortable temp, take it out of recirculate then raise the temp as needed. Works for me!

I had the same situation in my 05 f-250. I dropped at the dealer and they told me there was a "special service bulletin" for some 150s and 250s getting a low charge at the factory. I guess it wasn't bad enough to generate a TSB.

The solution was to either raise the charge level to full and test or to completely evacuate and refill the system. I had mine evacuated and refilled and it made a huge differance. It is way cool now.

I don't know about anybody else but since they went to a more "enviromentaly friendly" A/C it just never seems to cool the way the old ozone eaters would. I can remember some of my old cars would give you joint pains after a few minuetes it was so cold.

Ahhh yea, the good old days of regular gas, CFCs and engines measured in cubic inch displacement instead of liters.

For those complaining about the A/C not being cold enough, do take it in and complain. I live in a VERY hot climate, and the A/C output temp on my truck is excellent. It gets as cold as any of the R134 systems, and has great output.

When R134 first came out the A/C systems were still the ones designed for R12, and they were only sorta adequate.
Now that they are designed from the beginning for R134 they get as cold as needed. While they are not as efficient a system, the newer technology allows them to be as good as anyone could want. If it isn't, then have it checked. Don't just complain about it, have the dealer fix it.

My AC wasn't blowing cold and my outside temp gauge was highly inaccurate. I took it to the dealer and they reflashed my PCM. Now the outside temp gauge reads properly and the AC keeps it cold when it is 90 + outside.

Do you know the number of the service bulletin so I can tell my dealer to do it?
