First post here! The "shimmy" in the front is known to the dealers as "wheel nibble". It isn't the tires. Mine did it whith the factory tires/wheels. On day 2 I added 20"X10" wheels with 305/55/20 Toyo tires. Still had the nibble... Dealer had to make an adjustment in the front end. I guess this was an issue with the 04 model. For the last month, I have had a therm in the far left vent. I am at about 65 deg in town. 50 tops on the freeway. When we hit 117 here in Phx, I was lucky to get 65 deg at freeway speeds.
I dunno.... had my 04 f150 scab in for servicing last week, and of course the ac was alittle low so they added some... a slight improvement from what it was but it's no where as cold as other vehicles I've been, I'm aggravated to say the least... I'll let yous know how I make out......
Ya, same here...dropped it to 45 or so, but still not cold enough...I'm adding my own...I can't keep making trips to the dealer.
adding an electric fan to the front side of the condenser
will stop the different temps at differnent speeds as the fan
will supply the steady airflow at idle and 60mph.
My dealer told me mine worked fine (told me when I picked it up from them rather then when I called to see if it was ready, strike one). When I said there was no way it was working right when I picked it up they started down a path that it had a dark interior, blah, blah, blah (now I'm an idiot, so you're telling me that ford designed their AC to only work with light colored interiors, strike two). The manager measured the temp with it on max AC for about 5 to 10 min or so and it never got below 62 so they gave me a loaner and took it back. Next day they said it was a clogged drain and it is working fine. It works the same. I asked if they checked the amount of 134A in the system and to include that on the repair documents. They said it was fine but don't put any of that kind of data on the receipts. I need a new dealer! I've bought three new fords from them in the last 4 years and they treat me like a mushroom.
Brought my truck to the dealer and they said that my A/C was overcharged. They evacuated and recharged the system and it seems to be fine. I have not experienced any 95 degree days yet, but at 85+ it seems ok. I would suggest anyone that has ac problems to ask their dealer to check the charge on the system and notate on the work order.
Has anyone out there experienced this, the A/C system in my 04 Lariat super crew will shut it's self off. I have it set at 60 and it's 100+ outside. It just completely stops working and when I hit auto to turn it back on, the temp has reset to 75.
Got mine back yesterday. It was low. They vaced it out and recharged it. Said it was low from the factory??? GO FIGURE! was at about 64 deg before. Now it is about 47 deg. We don't have much humidity right now. And low humidity will cause it to cool less. So I'm hoping for low 40's or high 30's with some humidity... Also, new clutches in the rear to stop the thumping wheni turn. New hinges for the hood to stop the fluttering at highway speeds. And they flashed the ECM for good measure... All routine with the 04/05 Screw.
Got my truck back from the dealer....they did a vacuum/charge on the system...
A/C blows nice and cold now...Got down to 38-39 with the truck sitting still with the A/C on!! Still not as cold as my F150 Reg cab but I figured it's good enough for the SCREW....
Before with the truck sitting still and the A/C on the truck got down to 60 degrees with outside temps of 88 degrees...
I suggest to anyone else to have their trucks serviced at the dealer ASAP....unless you like it hot!!
Local dealer replaced the compressor on mine, service order said there were metal shaving in the compressor. I haven't got to drive it much since repair was made, but will let you know. So. Texas, 2004 FX4 screw.
I have the same problem
95 deg outside vent temp 46 deg and at times 62 deg depends on speed of truck...
I have also had the system stop cooling and blow HOT MOIST AIR.... (about 3 mins)
I got a call from ford after I filled out a negative service survey... Forign B*T!H on the
other end was clueless! I asked her for the name of a good AC guy in my area and
her reply was I had to keep going to the dealer (wasting my time) to get it fixed!
She really got my blood pressure up... I think I will spend a few bucks and get a
private mechanic to fix it .... better then the union azzhole mechanics at ford....
other problems:
bed wobbles like a water bed
sun roof leaks in hard rains
back auto window sticks
I have to pay for an AUX in on the 6CD mp3 head unit
If it were not for the truck turning heads while going down the road
I would dump it like a 2 cent wh0re....
