Hood shaking

Hi guys, I have searched with no luck so could someone please tell me if the shaking of the hood is normal? It shakes up and down while im driving and moves almost a full inch top to bottom while on the freeway. Most of the movement is obviously in the middle of the hood just by the windshield wipers. The ends flex also by the hinges. It seems like there should be a rubbe bump stop or something to keep the hood from moving so much. Any help would be great. thanks.

I'd say NO it's not normal. My hood exhibits no discernable movement while I'm driving.

This has been talked about and explained here many times before. Good possibility you have a bug deflector. I do not have the number, but there is a TSB that the delaer can follow and correct the problem. You can also do a search in this forum and see what others have done.

Thanks for your quick and informative replys everyone. I have a question about the TSB for the hood. It says buy the 3/16 rubber hose and install it inside the hood seal bulb. Call me stupid but HOW EXACTLY do I do this? Are you supposed to slit it and slide it over the existing seal or what the heck? I would love to resolve the flapping hood, but dont quite understand the installation procedure. Thanks in advance for your replys.

Wait, dont tell me I have to SLIDE the new hose inside the hollow rubber seal that makes contact with the hood? Is that correct? and if so is it like putting a basket ball through a garden hose or just a bit easier? thanks again!

Let your dealer worry about it. Thats the beauty of a TSB. If you go trying to fix it (albeit probably quite easy), they will be able to say its been messed with before the fact, and they cant help you.

Definitely try the dealer first. I was able to fix mine with just the hood adjustment. I raised the fron about 1/4" as it was slightly low. After that the hood shake disappeared. As there was no TSB when I fixed mine, I guess I got lucky and did the right thing.

My dealer did jack about it!! I did it myself in 10 min. It's easier if you take the rubber off the truck first. Just use some DW liquid and it's a piece of cake! Cost ya a few bucks and a few minutes. Price of piece of mind of not having your truck in the hands of the "dealership"......absolutly priceless!

Trust me, it's easy and it DOES work! It is because of a bugshield.
