Yeah i like the sound of the ctm u joints.I tryed those brut force u joints from the parts store and there ok for just driving down the road but i don't trust them with what im going to be doing.
At my shop we install the Brute Force joints on a fleet of oilfeild trucks. These trucks are Ford f250s-f550s they are always over loaded and of course they travel on the best oilfeild roads
Some of these joints have 100k + miles on them no problems yet.
I also have them on my Bronco with no problems so far. Now granted it's all stock save for the gears, lift, locker and tires and I'm not very hard on it. I prefer to finesse it thru the rough stuff rather than cobb her back and only hit the high spot like when I was younger. They may not hold well for those with highly modified rigs and a heavy foot but for the average trail rig they should be fine.
Although the companies future is cloudly (last i heard and what was mentioned in here anyway), the OX u-joints are a fairly decent joint (as well as their lockers to), stronger than the spicer joints if i remember correctly, and they are considerely less then the ctms, but like i said i don't what kind of shape the company is in.
Yea, I would stay away from Ox anything, just because the company is REALLY touch and go. Too bad, I really liked the concept behind the ox locker. I keep hoping they'll be bought up by a big stable company.
how bout a broken crank for the carnage of the year award pro....
Ha ha ha...how about NOT!
Although, then I would have to spring for a bling billet stroker crank. Might as well go bigger, like a 605. Would need an eliminator block to do that properly. Hemi heads to go with the combo too. Hmmmmm, crosses fingers for a broken crank
Found this quote while looking for some spicers myself...
"Spicer u-joints are the best and worth asking for. Independent testing done by Warn Industries found that as far as sheer breaking strength, the closest competitor was 85 percent of the Spicer and the other brands went down from there."
Maybe it was a U-joint that CMT doesnt make the same size for...which wouldnt make much sense...but who knows

I'm sure that that study was either done before the CTM's were available, or that it simply wasn't considered a "competitor" since the CTM is far and away in a different class. I'm sure the spicers were only compared to other mass produced u-joints.
Also interesting that Warn did the study. Theres been much talk about Warn voiding axle warrenties if CTM's are used...simply because its the one case were the u-joints are stronger than the shafts.

Spicer schmicer . . . they don't hold a candle next to CTMs:
I've been hearing more and more complaints about the OX joints. Oh well, at least they have good customer service and they're a reputable company who will be around when you need them.
