I am pretty sure that all 73-79 D60's came stock with 30 spline axles. Is this wrong, are there full float D60's out there with 35 spline stock axles? Is there an easy way to tell other than removing one to know?
there is some out there with a corse spline axle to i think the count is like 13 alot diffrent than the 31 spline axle ive never seen a 35 spline one but that doesnt mean its not out there in the aftermarket world.
Your talking about 16 spline for the 60's early 70's don't know the cutoff but later was 30 spline. Not to steal thread, are the 30 spline axles the same length a 16 spline axles?
If you are still not sure what you have, it isnt hard to remove the axle. Just undo the bolts on the hub and pull it out. Pretty simple. It may leak some fluid out unless you park it at a angle and take the high one out. Put some silicone on it when you put it back.
Thats what I figured, I should have said later 70's d60's since I know that some of the early ones were 16 spline. I guess I will pull one and see. Is it easy to put 35 spline axles in, replacing the 30 spline?

Carl....=o&o>....
Yes they are the same length. I upgraded mine to 30 when I swapped in the lockrite. As far as the years, don't know. 74 is 16 splines. When I looked in to 35 splines, I was told I would have to have my spindles bored to accomodate the bigger diameter.
Thanks Ted, I was looking for "limited slip" for the 68 CS, every unit was for 30 spline. I have a used Powerlock that I might add new clutches and install. Was told there are different clutch setting to % slip or grip. My axles have a taper collar over the axle studs, newer is straight bore axles.
