Drove my F350 today. Still have the bucking, did you change out the CPS? and if so what were the results. I have been look towards a CPS, but if it's not it I'll try the Glow Plug Relay. Check engine light comes on, but the PCM is not holding any codes. Ho, I also got the snake eye from mama again....
Glad to hear your up and running.
Sam
The glow plug relay will do nothing to cure your bucking. It will only fix a hard start and only then if it wasn't working in the first place. Once the engine is running for a minute or two it shuts off for the rest of the trip.
I have a 2003 PS 7.3 F350 with a manual tranny. I get every once in a while, I get a buck or loss of power. In second gear at low RPM, pulling away from a stop light. All of a sudden a miss in power. I think I had the A/C on. Got no error lights. This has happend twice.
I am wondering could it be the A/C pump kicking on? It sure gives you a jolt when it happens. I have about 47,000 miles.
I have an 02 F350, Auto... Just changed my CPS last weekend. It stopped the bucking while under steady throttle. It's location above crankshaft pulley and to the left of the waterpump. (looking at the engine). It take a 10MM socket and a little wiggling if you keep the belt on. I have about 200 mile on it since I replaced it. Running great now. Heard the stealership gets close to $200 for the CPS, so check E-bay or International for the part.
over all it was very simple (yes even for me ) I just laid on the ground by the right front wheel. I un-plugged the connector from the CPS. I the used a 3/8 drive ratchet, 3 inch extension and a deep dish 10mm socket. I loosened the bolt and removed the bolt. Then I was able to remove the CPS by hand, might need a screw driver on older ones . Just reversed the process and added some 30 weight oil, just a light coating arund the o-ring then slide it back in. Started the truck and of we went. Not one snake out from MAMA yet.
I think Ford must have changed manufactures on the item, and they fail due to the heat from the engine. I have a 97 F250 PSD with 252K and no trouble with the CPS on him.
You guys were right. I took it to the Lithia Mercury dealer. (better the the Ford dealer). When I called up to make sure they had the part in stock, he said to get it in right away. No question asked. They replaces the CPS and it was under warrenty with a $100.00 deductable. Thanks for everyones input.
Ok, I just thought I would chime in on this one. 99 F-250 7.3 135k. Heading to the lake for the weekend, loaded up with two motorcycles and a ton of camping gear. 75+ MpH on the freeway, it bumps two to three times like a miss and shuts down like the ignition switch was turned off. Never to restart and no lights or warning. After a hour and a half wait and a hour ride in the a tow truck to a 24 hr Ford stealership, I was informed of a $175 diagnostic fee and a camshaft Position sensor that was going to cost me another $97 dollars to install and $160 for the part. Also, they were booked for the next week. Now is it truly a 10 minute job? If so, I would like a jar of vaseline with the bill, please ... The service manual says to line up the timing marks on the damper and inspect thru the bore of the cps to look for timing error. Does timing ever jump this drastically for a vehicle that was running fairly normal and I assume there is no alignment necessary for replacing the sensor. If this is the case, I will pay the stealership diagnostic fee; have a friend tow me out to street and replace the cps with one from IH.
By the way, I replaced my other F250 with approval from the wife because it standed us more than once. I bought this newer one for a more reliable vehicle. Snake eyes would have been a blessing for the looks I have got.

LOL, I wouldn't want to be in your shoes.
For the price that Ford is quoting you, you can go down to your International truck dealer, buy TWO "camp" sensors for your 2000 T444E engine. Replace the one that is bad on the front of your engine and save the second one for a spare. This is a common failure item on the PSD and everyone that knows, carries a spare one, a 10mm socket, a ratchet, and a short extension to do the job in 10 minutes!
I have a 7.3 l deisel (1999) that starts hard if I leave it set for more than a day without starting it. It sounds like it is coughing and hacking, and getting ready to spew up a furball. Once it is started thogh and runs a few minutes, it starts right up with no problem, only starts rough if is left unstarted for more than a day, no matter what temperature it is outside, cold or hot. Any idead would be helpful. I have heard that it might be my glow plug relay, where is this located and where can I get one ??
