This problem just started happening. When I’m driving along at 55-65 the truck will “buck”, like I lost all power and/or fuel. It only last for 1- second and then everything is fine. Today on the way to work, it “bucked” and then the "Service Engine Soon" light came on. When I got to work I shut the engine off and restarted it and the “light” was off. Incidentally, it seems to happen right after I set the cruise control or resume the cruise control. Could just be coincidence though!! <O</O I’ve been looking through past post, but haven’t found my answer. Any thoughts?????????
The only thing that differs from your problem and mine is your description yours is bucking and mine was hiccupping either one can be cured with a new cam position sensor 175.00 at the dealer parts counter or about 50 or 60.00 on eBay. I opted for eBay becouse my truck still ran, replaced the sensor 4 months ago and it hasn't missed a beat since then. 10 minute job max.
Had this happen to me with the bucking and all. Had a throttle position sensor code in computer displayed. Replaced pedal ***'y. and have had no more problems. Hope this helps.
Guess what…this morning it didn’t start at all. So on my way to work I stopped and bought a Cam Position Sensor. Hope that does it. Oh-ya, I got a 147,000 miles on the old one, so it’s probably due. Any step-by-step installation instruction on this site??
I started having the same problem just the other day. I noticed it at 65-70 mph. Not using the cruise control, to many hills and turns in my area. I bought a code reader and got no trouble codes. Check engine light goes out after restart. Starting has always been good. Maybe I'll get a CMP also. Hate those looks from MAMA when the truck breaks down.
I’ll replace the part tonight and post a reply tomorrow and let you, and the forum, know the results. The wife had already left for work this morning…..so I’m “anticipating” the look tonight. Yippee
I had the almost same problem too....but I got a code though on mine...I beleive it was an ECM code which FORD said that it was my injectors clogged.....and beleive it or not that was what my fix was........hope you get it worked out soon!
Well I don’t think it was the Cam sensor. I replaced it and still wouldn’t start. So I cycled the glow plugs 4-5 and finally got it to go. It smoked white smoke something awful. I took it for a ride and got everything warmed up and then it started normally. This morning however I had to cycle the glow plugs twice and then it started hard and smoked white smoke again. When I revved the motor it sounded whiny and sorta flooded.
Drove my F350 today. Still have the bucking, did you change out the CPS? and if so what were the results. I have been look towards a CPS, but if it's not it I'll try the Glow Plug Relay. Check engine light comes on, but the PCM is not holding any codes. Ho, I also got the snake eye from mama again....
I changed the CPS first, but that didn’t help. My “service engine soon” light came on and stayed lit until I got to work. Then when I restarted the truck the light went out. I stopped at AutoZone, but they could not check it because the light needs to be on.
Then, the darned thing wouldn’t start at all. So I bought the GPR and things are good now.
The CPS was $92.00 at Ford dealership and the GPR $32.00, a friend of mine works there and I get his discount, and I was due for that anyhow (147,000 miles) so I look at it as an investment. With the new CPS, I don’t notice any change in idle or anything, but then again, I don’t think my old one was bad. I now have a spare!
Good luck with your F350. I’m not a certified machnic, but I would try the GPR.
It's a little tuff to get at the CPS bolt. use a 10mm with a small extension and a pipe to help bust that rusty little SOB loose. Remeber to put a little anti-seze on the bolt.
