Hey guys, I know its diffren't its a truck but last tuesday I topped off my truck. I made a run up the highway for some parts stop and go for like 15miles, rest of the time 70-75mph, on the way home too, except for the last 5 miles of playing with the chevy that wanted the 5.0. I went 126 miles and started off with putting in 9.023gal. got back tanked it up again took 6.238gal equals out to 20.19. I wrote it all down been trying to keep track of my mileage here lately and completely shocked by it too in town I range from 16-18 unless I'm on the loud pedal than things drop.
stop pickin on him y'all I have been getting 15 mpg on backroads and 18-20 highway. My truck is a 94 w/ a 5.0 HO (the engine with a bigger cam for towing). it has 67,000 miles on it and I change oil about every 1,500-2,000 miles, clean all filters and drive the speed limit using 93-octane. the only mods I have is 2-1/2" exhaust w/ a 40-series delta flow, a 1" throttle body spacer and k&n filter charger. I say preventative maint. y'all probably say go fast quickly Oh! I also ended out replacing 75% of the sensors on the truck to get the erratic idle surge and shut-off problem fixed. The original window sticker stated 13-15 city and 19-21 hgwy.

My 91, 302, EB, 3.55's, 31" tires, gets about the same as Artistictouch. It once threw out a 22.8 MPG average in Colorado. It never did it again so it was either a fluke or maybe the high country gas. When I drive mine, I push the gas down enough that the tranny shifts at 1800 rpms. Land slug? You bet! But it gets great gas mileage.
I have to add my two cents.. my all time best is 23.6 mpg out of a 302fi/AOD combo in a full size truck. Stock tires, 3.55 gears.
How did I do it? Well perfect wether conditions, AND the fact that I cruised at no more than 50 / 55 mph, and lost lots of speed going up hills and picked up lots of free speed going down. No traffic either. Was on a 280 mile trip.
Witnesses also. I was traveling with a full size bronco.
Oh.. I forgot that was a 4x4 truck. The Bronco returned about 18 MPG at the same time, but then he blasted up the hills and I passed him on the downside..
