Sounds like he fueled up at two different pumps. The first one overfilled and the second one shut off early. The only way to accurately check mileage is filling up multiple times and averaging the amount. The highest I got with my 302 is 16 to17 mpg on a trip to Disney World from <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comBirmingham Alabama.</ST1

I feel lucky if I get 8-10 MPG around town, of course it is a 79 and has a 400 and I really enjoy seening the kids in honda's asking each other "WHAT THE &%*$ was that" when the Edlebrock open's the other two barrels.

Now yer bringing back memories. I had a Merc with a 428 SCJ and man when you stood on the gas, the carb would really moan. Wow. The good old days for sure.

Sorry for any misunderstanding the numbers given are for my 82 bronco with a 300I6 4spd and 32's bone stock 69,000 miles
My big truck only gets about 5-7 mpg depending on how hard I drive her.
