I'm not a slush box kind of guy but I'll give ya what I know...the aod4 is the early version of the e4od, the aod4 uses throttel position to determin shift paterns, as where the e4od is completly integrated with the EEC, I also believe that the clutch packs in the e4od have been upgraded. ford has a shift pack for your box it's pn#M-7101-h: this will allow you to "dial in" your shift. I would also recomend a cooler.
U code is the AOD-E/4R70W tranny, more or less a descendant of the old FMX. It is in no way related to the E40D (code E) or 4R100 as it is now designated. The E40D is actually a delevopment of sorts from the C-6. If you want a lot more info go to http://www.baumannengineering.com/ and rumage around their site
Anyone know where the trans code chart is located here?
I am looking at a 1989 F250 manual trans with trans code W on the door sticker. It does not look like a ZF....doesn't have the crosshatch pattern in the body casting. Trying to figure out what W trans is. I think there was trans code chart here that I've referenced in the past. Thanks.
