Well, to give you guys an update, I finally got my headers and y-pipe in, they lost my order for about a week and a half and then I had too beat a fedex guy to get them to my house. But all is good and wait was worth it.
Just have 2 problems since they did not make headers for my 82 I bought all the stuff for an 86 and 1 of the headers has an egr pipe coming off it. I think it's a 7/8 flare fitting, not sure tho. anybody else using bassanis and have pluged that thing, as my old 82 has no emission. Also, the y-pipe has a hole for an o2 sensor, and I was just gonna use an old one to plug the hole.

Sorry for the length.

You should have ordered the headers for 93-96 lightning they don't have the EGR tube.
So much for hindsight.
I capped my EGR tube with the stock flared nut fitting with a Quarter stuck inside to cover the end of the tube. That EGR tube is not common pipe thread. You could get the tubing connection fitting from a wrecking yard, any Fuel injected Ford 351 will have it.
I have seen a thread on another site with thread spec for a cap most guys had them custom made.
As for the O2 sensor port some one told me a spark plug will fit too , don't know never tried
that method.
Good luck.
I love the Bassani setup I have the Headers and 3" off road Y-pipe and cat back .

Thats nice to know now.
Well, the only spark plug I would think could fit would be from my dads 23 model T pickup, but those are pipe thread. I might have to go junkyard digging. I like junkyard digging.

I know this is too little too late but once you get into the model years that have EEC-IV computer controlled engines, there is no longer ANY EGR attached to the exhaust manifolds/headers. Ford relocated the EGR plumbing to run right out of the heads and up through separate ports in the INTAKE manifold to the EGR valve so the "R" in EGR is done without ever going near the regular exhaust ports. Trucks that are old enough to not have the EGR system at all could theoretically use the same headers as the later model (87-94) trucks.

Then what is that pipe coming off the passenger side header, and shoots straight forward? Also, how do I plug it?

Fuel injected 5.8.Truck/van intake uses external connection to exhaust system. GT 40 lightning and cars use passage inside the intake manifold.for EGR. Truck exhaust manifolds have a connection on passenger side front for Flared tubing which connects the EGR to the exhaust manifold. I don't have access to any pics maybe somwone else can help with that. The fitting I was referring to in my other post in this thread is the one that attatches to the exhaust manifold, thats why your headers have the right side connection.

The headers for 5.8 Lighning pickup don't have that conection.

Ahh, sorry didn't realize the 5.8's still had the external EGR. Just skip what i posted previously then unless you have a 5.0.

No problem grey. With all that knowledge in your head It's probly like picking through a swap meet.

Well I got my buddies help and we got the headers and y-pipe on, had to cut the grooves further for the extension, it would not clamp. Guess it got missed by manufactoring.
Sounds great with the flowmaster, taking tomorro if I can get a chance to the muffler shop to have the muffler welded and have them bend up a pipe for the side exit.
