Automatic headlight sensor
I have a 2003 F350. It has a position on the headlight switch for automatic. In this position the headlights will turn on when it gets dark, when the ignition is on. I am wondering, where is the sensor located? Does anyone know? Thanks

The sensors are slow reacting on purpose so they won't cycle the lights when headlight beams or some other light source strikes it directly. Haven't any idea how long it would take to turn on lights but in real life the ambient light reduces slowly so sensor can turn on lights at a reasonable ambient level. It might take a few minutes to react if sensor is covered so that light level goes from bright to nothing in an instant.

It is the little black dome in the middle of the dash... mine takes about 90 seconds for the lights to come on...I have heard of guys painting the dome in order for the lights to come on as daytime running lights
