I know this has been covered but can't find the post.
I installed the Ford auto headlight switch and light sensor in my 2011 F250 6.7.
Now the headlights and taillights stay on when ever the truck is running (switch in the auto position) regardless of daylight.
Anyone have suggestions. Thanks Joe

Reason: misspelt
Could the sensor be blocked (or installed incorrectly, or wired incorrectly) and not getting any sunlight? If so, it would think that it was dark out, and lights are needed. On my 2012, if I place something on my dashboard at just the right spot, my dash panel lights dim.
Just a guess here, my 2012 came with the sensor already installed, but what if you short the sensors wires together? Sometimes circuits work in reverse, because you may not actually be closing a circuit to turn on the lights, but rather closing a circuit that tells the computer to turn on the lights. On my wife's Mustang, I once unplugged the headlight switch while working under the dash, and the lights went on. Backwards of what I expected. All I can figure is maybe it was a "power on by default" sort of failsafe situation, if there's problem, it's better to have the lights on than off.
Also, when in the "auto" headlight position, the headlights will be on whenever the wipers are on, regardless of ambient light conditions.
Good luck!
Well, I wouldn't give up. If you like the feature, and you already bought the parts, it's worth getting it to work right. Troubleshooting just might be a little different than traditional circuits.
Joe, you might need the dealer to set something in the computer. I just install a fog light kit in my 2015 XL and kit came with sensor, new switch w/auto feature. Just plugging it all in it was working just like yours is, if in auto mode they would always be on but would time out and shut off when I shut truck down.
While the dealer was in the computer turning on my remote start and trailer brake controller, I asked them to look into the auto headlight feature and when I picked up truck they now work like normal. They must have done something in there but mechanic was gone and didn't get a chance to ask what he did.
My 04 has the auto light and i never used it till about seven months ago, I figured out how to turn the time limit up for the lights after you shut it off and walk away (stock was like 5 seconds) i now have them at 3 minutes (max) so when i go hunting or get home late the lights stay on long enough for me to get the boat unhooked, dog out of his dog box and my gun and cloths into the garage without having to turn the garage lights on. Its a very nice feature now that I have it set on long enough
