Is there a way to adjust when the headlights come on in the automatic switch position? I would like the lights to come on sooner, like rainy weather. I thought about putting a piece of electrical tape on the dash sensor, but maybe there is a better way.
Seriously though, i wouldn't think it would be adjustable... I don't have a wiring diagram, but i am willing to wager it is a little light activated switch that pulls in the headlight relay, so it doesn't output an analog signal that you can manipulate.
Maybe some of that aftermarket window tint stuff... just wrap the eye in it?

Reason: clarity
I put black eletrical tape over mine and just leave it in the auto postion all the time that way anytime I drive the truck the lights come on if I don't want them on i can turn them off. I drive ever vehicle with the light on no matter where I am or what time of day it is.
It's a photocell in that bubble. If you can find the wire coming off of it you could try putting a variable resistor on it. That's what we do to adjust the sensistivity of the photo cells we use. Just a thought. I use the hat trick.
All the suggestions above involve shielding the sensor to speed it's turning on. I doubt it is what the op is after, but adjusting in the other direction must be impossible.

Black tape makes sense to me, and you could experiement with covering increasing portions of the lens to get the value you like.
Be aware that if you have EATC in your truck, covering that sensor will change how your temps behave. I don't know how noticeable it will be, if at all.
