2002 Running Board

Has anybody taken the running boards off their excursion? I am thinking about taking mine off and it is easy looking but I have one question. If I take them off and do not like it and decide to put them back on how do I put the nut on the bolts that support the top of the brackets? I could not find an access point to remove the nuts when i take them off so I guess that would actually be the first delema. Any info would be great thanks.

There are not nuts in the normal sense that the bolts go into to.

The "nut" is a tab with a threaded boss on it. <-- that's real junk explaination.

Remove the boards and if you do not like they are real easy to put them back on.

I guess you'll have to remove one to see what I'm talking about as I deleted the pictures I had of the bolt & "nuts" that secure the boards.

It is easy. I did it to my Expedition and had no problem reinstalling them. I also removed them from my Excursion and the process was the same.
